My brakes are seizing on my 2.8 capri and I want to either unseize them or investigate getting princess 4 pots any ideas where to get them and if they fit straight on?

Ah- my step son have just used these on their MK2 escort rally car. I'll ask where they were from next time I see him.

He also said they are dual brakeline fed - they had to make a converter to use em.

Princess 4 pots are old hat these days, Rally Design 01795 531871 do a conversion kit using wilwood ally 4 pots & plain or grooved discs to go under the original 13" wheels or brooklands 15" rims.

I'm the set-up I'm currently looking at, using the same calipers, for my on-going MkI Golf 'resteration' project is £400+vat for the Calipers, Discs, Ferodo Pads & all brackets, which I think looks bloody good value.

I've had a quick scan through the catalogue, and they do 7 different kits from £300 to £900

BTW, I am also currently looking at fitting my old Legacy 2 pots to my XR4x4 (the Legacy has some sparkling new 4 pots), it looks like they could be persuaded to fit quite easily if I go to 15" rims. Therefore by my reckoning Scoob 4 pots should go on, if you've got some 16"s

Will be removing the 2 pot calipers from my MY96 Impreza in favour of some RB5 4 pots.
The calipers are in good condition, but one disc is scored. Not looking for too much for them

The standard 276 dia discs are bobbins, whichever option is chosen, get some decent aftermarket jobbies. I turned two pairs into pringles in 15k miles, admittedly they were hard miles, but then my cars know of nothing else

I'm pretty sure they use the same calipers on DAF vans(pilots and convoys),so you could try a commercial breakers.

Our lad put some on his crappy, you have to get some spacers, I think the princess must of had solid discs where the crappy has vented so the caliper has to be split and made wider. Also, as mentioned above, the princess has two brake lines going into the caliper where the crappy has one. You can get round this by connecting the bleeder from one side into the inlet of the other side.

I managed to get a set from a breakers yard for £40. You will need to get the spacer kit as mentioned above which is about £17 from Rally Design. You will also find that the Capri disk isnt large enough. its about 3-4 mm too small so you wont get the full pad on the disk. Its ok to use the Capri disk. I did this on my Mk2 RS2000 for 20000 miles with no problems. You can buy slightly larger disks to cure this.
Rally design advertise reconditioned Princess disks for £61 but I did enquire about them and fobbed me off saying they find it difficult to get them.
If you do try to buy secondhand ones make sure the pistons are in excellent condition as it is very difficult to get hold of new ones as I found out to my cost. It cost me over £130 for pistons and new rubbers.

There is another option which I think the Capri club sell. I think they use Granada calipers, maybe a cheaper option in the long run.

A tip I have just remembered form an old CCC, try a volvo 240 estate, they had ally 4 pots as standard!

RichJ has some sweet Nissan 2 pots which are a bit of a bargain. Don't know if they would fit, but you never know mate.

Brother has just fitted Princess 4 pots to his 'Scort MK1. VERY impressive to be honest, and for that car they look huge. The calipers say AP so I don't know whether they are original Princess 4 pots or he's just telling me that to make me feel better. (I compete against him in my 205 GTi)

Certainly stops very well.

I have a set of front and rear RS Cosworth 4 x 4 calipers and discs for sale if anybody needs them. The fronts are 40 slot Tarox, the rears are std.
Calipers have been cleaned. No pads.
