2010 Focus st....which oil
buddy of mine has just picked up a 2010 focus st
usual mods like block mod/rs injectors/plugs/airtec intercooler etc running 360bhp. its a bit of a knacker that he wants to get back to its former glory but its really low on oil and the previous owner doesnt know what grade is in it.
any ideas what he should use?
cheers

It's a Ford with an ancient Volvo lump...they all take 5w-30A5 (formerly 5w-30A1)
Magnatec 5w-30A5 is specially for Ford (WSS-M2C913-A /B/C/D).
You could put in something like Edge 5w-30 which is a higher quality longlife oil, but you said it was a knacker, and that's a expensive oil to burn if it likes to drink it so...
....Better off checking if timing belt/water pump are due to be changed.
A thicker oil like 5w-40 may reduce consumption, but in my experience it doesn't make any difference.

This is "NOT" aimed at the OP, but It made me smile as I often send links like this around work when staff ask questions that were likely much easier to research with Google.
Though you fellas might like it...

sometimes google doesnt hold the answers and its better speaking with like minded folk who will give advice and good information.
wouldnt be a very good forum if every question that gets asked gets the google treatment would it?
i appreciate the comment wasnt aimed towards me so i will leave it there.

Although it seems, not for you.
With hindsight, it was a rubbish topic to pop it on. My Appologies.
