any current/ex vr6 corrado owners on here?

We got rid of our G60 Corrado in March after getting the B4.. When we got the G60 way back in 1996 we took out a VR6 and a 16V as well as the G60. Whilst the VR6 was powerful and pulled in all the right places it just didnt seem to have the grunt and pull like the G60 (the 16v was sh*te) but compared to the Subarus and The Evo 6 we drove before we actually chose a B4! The VR6 just isnt in the same league.
I know it isnt much help but thought I'd put my 2 pence in!!

I'm a proud owner of a late Corrado VR6 (lovelly pearl green/beige leather/all electrics etc.). Fantastic car.
Let me know what you want to know.

If looked afer then they go on for a long time.
shouldn't have to worry at any less than 120k if serviced. My VR6 has done just over 80k (M reg) & runs like a dream.
Rough price guide £5k will buy you one (but is either quick to sell or a naff one), £6k for a reasonably good one, £7k for a very good one & £8 to £10k for pristine examples (e.g. a mint storm or fully specced one).
go to www.vw-corrado-club.co.uk for a fair bit of info on the Corrado.
As with all cars, check the autotrader, classifieds etc. to find out the real going rates.

All I would say is check the sunroof works. Mines broke twice and I had to change it out once.
I had a 93K and I really enjoyed it. It was very easy to deal with day to day, great for cruising, but could be a bit of a handful in the wet.
Hope this helps a little.
Dave.

Great fun to drive, so beautifully balanced (especially on the limit, you can play with it & it doesn't punish you at all unlike most cars). can be a nice smooth cruiser on the m-way one minute, or a fun thrash round the country lanes then next. Ride isn't perfect on bumpy town roads but what sporty car is?? Overall, it is such a complete all round car.
Read the press reviews, all said it was by far the best coupe of it's time (I think only the fiat coupe came close and very few have surpassed it since). & I think autocar (or top gear etc, can't remember) said it was one of the 5 cars that you could live with for the rest of your life. (can't remember the others in this list but one was the Bmw M5).
btw the temp gauge not working is usually coz the cable gets disconnected when the f bumper is removed & not re-plugged in afterwards! not heard of Corrado's rusting at all, uncommon I'd say. check sunroofs, door handles and heater controls. If the trip computer doesn't work properly it's possibly a sign that the car's been clocked.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Corrado-UK/ for when you've got one & need info on fixing stuff etc..
http://www.vw-corrado-club.co.ukgo here if you're gonna buy one, buyers guides & loads of info.
Forget overpriced ones. you can get an excellent 96(N) storm for less than £10k easily.

Headgaskets can fail on the left side
Spoiler can stop working
Gearchange gets sloppy with age
Sunroof so mainy problems (motor,cables)
Chain can get bit noisy
Coil packs can fail
But generally pretty reliable. Has anyone who doesnt work on them ever tried changing the plugs though. Blooody murder if you lead tool is missing (attached to the bonnet stay)

There was a silver Corrado VR6 (Mreg) with only 34k miles on it in the TVAT last week.....£8,495
Great car for that money, & if that mileage is correct a fantastic buy....if its still for sale !!
