Looks not unlike the TT! Fail.

Decent looking enough. Think I prefer it over the hatch.

Dull dull dull.

About time Audi really took a step forward with their design. They're so conservative with everything they do.

I'll admit, the S3 is hardly the most exiting thing to drive. But as an overall ownership package, it's hard to fault.

Hopefully the new RS3 will inject a little more excitement, like the old B7 RS4.

Looks alright! Bit boring to look at again!.

If I was to buy any German car these days I'd get a amg Mercedes because they are the only German company that has stepped up over the last 2yrs.

BMW's are boring and all look the same and the same with Volkswagen, and far too over priced.

I don't get these cars, one of the best bits about the RS3? Hatchback!

It's amazing manufacturers can make these inbetween models work financially, A3 - A4, nope let's make another model that is inbetween the two lol

It's like we're so spoilt for choice these days we tel ourselves we need something.

At least it doesn't look like the Merc equivalent, same size as the A3 saloon but looks like the back end dropped near a fire.

Audi released the original Quattro to European customers in late 1980,[1] featuring Audi's quattro permanent four-wheel drive system (hence its name), and the first to mate four-wheel drive with a turbocharged engine.[1]

The original engine was the 2,144 cc (131 cu in) (2.1 L), inline-5-cylinder 10 valve SOHC, with a turbocharger and intercooler. It produced 147 kW (200 PS; 197 bhp) and torque of 285 N·m (210 lbf·ft) at 3500 rpm; propelling the Quattro from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.1s, and reaching a top speed of over 220 km/h (137 mph).[1]
How I wanted one of these back in the day.
Used to work at a car dealership when I left school and the boss owned one.

Fast Audis certainly are a bit more 'conservative' these days.

Putting power pace looks etc on one side for a minute......

Got to say after having a 3 series saloon for a while gawd I missed a rear wiper and a boot that opened properly

No where in the pace or looks league, but love practicality of my Octavia vRS

Definitely getting old.lol

It's to do with the markets.....

The A45 is not sold in the US. It's the CLA45 - the saloon.

It's the same with the RS3. Hatch isn't available. The new saloon will be.... they'll sell like hot cakes over there. The market is huge.

Because some people (me included) prefer a Saloon. Which is why I bought an S3 Saloon instead of the RS3 Sportback.

Given that virtually everyone on this site has at some point owned a Subaru Impreza (A Saloon car), and those same people virtually blew a gasket when Subaru dropped the saloon for a Hatch.

Yet now, bemoaning Audi for offering a Saloon.

And to be fair, if you frequent the Audi forums (which I do) most people have been wanting a powerful small RS Saloon in the guise of the B7 RS4.

Guess Audi are just giving people what they have been asking for. My guess is that the RS3 will be offered as both Sportback and Saloon. Thus giving the Hatch brigade what they want, and the Saloon brigade what they want. Double sales

Pretty much what they did with the B7 RS4. Saloon and Estate

Never quite understood the options restrictions on modern German low-end sports cars, and to be frank its getting annoying now as everything that takes my interest is compromised either in the way it drives or its practicality. And these are everyday cars, not some special weekend toy; if it were an R8 I'd understand, but its just a A3 with bigger engine, bodykit and stiffer suspension.

I can buy a normal Audi A3 with a 3pot engine, 4pot engine, manual, auto, diesel, petrol etc, in 3 door, or 5 door, S-line trim, plain trim, leather, cloth, big wheels, small wheels, all in a variety of exterior colours.

But when it comes to a halo "top of the range" version; The RS3 they restrict all the critical options that make a huge difference to the car's usability and desirability...no bodyshape option, no gearbox option, restricted colour choice etc.

Yet they all come off the same production lines!

Of course its to do with the money, but, the majority of development in making the bodyshell and drivetrain is already done...so why not bump it on the options list as a stupidly expensive option?
