Default What sports car next?

Hi Scoobynet masses,

Its time for another change. I think i have thought of every car possible and not really found anything i yern for. Not in my price bracket anyway.

So preferably 20k ish. Max 30k and it would have to be special.

C6 Vette is currently at the top of my list.
followed by 997 911
5.0 xkr
z06 probably cost £32k which is big money on a car.

I want something which looks super-car, sounds awesome, at least 250 bhp/ton preferably a lot more. Capable on track and autobahn. Exciting to drive. bonus points for vertibleness. Basically as close to an f430 as i can get for mid 20s.

impreza gc8 sti
e46 m3
e36 m3 track hack
550 bhp supercharged e46 m3
e36 m3 race car
300 bhp 590 kg tiger race car
tvr tuscan 4.0 fff

Not sure i can go back to bmw because they are just not special enough as i have a daily and a proper track car. so just something for euro/alps/ring/weekends away jaunts.

I was going to say GTR but remembered there all over £30,000.

Although a Skyline would be in your price range.

A C63 AMG doesn't satisfy all the criteria you've listed, but it does tick quite a few boxes.

It's within budget, sounds awesome, is exciting/lairy to drive, has more than 250bhp/tonne, and is capable on the autobahn. And you obviously like your German cars...

I've driven a C6 Vette and it's fast. My mate has a Z06 and it's in a whole different league of fast. It's honestly worth slightly breaching the £30k barrier for and, crucially, you are unlikely to lose much/any money on it. The acceleration and noise are unreal and it would absolutely hump an F430 in a straight line.

Have you considered getting something built to your own spec? Eg the MB developments car (but with more comfort). With a budget like that you could end up with something unique.
I'm thinking something along the lines of Guy Martins volvo amazon:

Can you get a 997 for £20k'ish? Must be a high millage car for that cash?

I remember looking at 996 Turbo's a few years ago. £20-25k. Same car now is about £50k. Price of some cars are just silly now.

Go for the 911.
Look after it and you'll most likely get your money back when you decide to move on.

I'm looking at the possibility of buying a new car, when I say new, I mean new.

Going for a test drive in a 2016 Subaru WRX STi next week, and the week after the new BMW M2.

There is a £20k price difference between the two, so we shall see if the BMW is 20000 times better!

I know neither are in your budget, but have you considered financing? Thats how I will be buying one these. No sense in spending your own large wedge of cash on a car!

Keep the money in your bank and get a good finance deal.

Yup, about 70-80k around 2005 for around 20k or low mileage and around 2009 for around 30k.
Op has upto 30k.

Gonna be my next car/toy I think when I've done with Subaru, if I havnt bought another house that is.

Do you have a running cost budget, the american muscle could get pricey.

If that's not and issue you could look at a DB7.

Not a fan of the db7. Vantage is nice tho and just in budget.

Im keeping my eye out for a Z06. only one under 30k at the moment is a cat C.

all the engine horries on the 997 scares me a lot. Also i dont think a mk1 would be straight line fast enough to give me my fix.

I think M12's are out of reach now.

Custom / kit car may be the way to go. But im worried their kit car ness will have that same rattle / lack of solidity feel of the tuscan.

I wonder if Ultima is in budget. Probably no good at the GT part tho.
