Default new focus rs

Just something in the air! The brand new focus rs the electric blue colour type.

is it a future classic over a period of 25years?
if so, is it worth buying a brand new one and storing it from now?

Only I head they have commissioned more to be built, will that rub off an rarity?

What are your thoughts people.

It'll never be a classic like the Escort Cosworth. It's not got any Rally heritage, it looks awful, and they're making loads of them.

The rumoured RS500 coming out shortly would be a safer bet, if they only build in limited numbers.

But if you have to buy one, get any other colour, rather than `British Gas Blue`. Common as muck.

But why would you want to buy a Focus RS and store it? Buy it and drive it.

No chance in my opinion. You'd be waiting a bloody long time for it to be worth it even if it was!

You'd be way better off buying 3 Nissan R32 GTR's if you want an investment for the future.

Its for investment. Surely a car with 0 miles will hold more value than one with even 1000 miles. To my dispose m5 f10, hawk spec type ra, in storage a defender, e30 m3 and range rover linley. Cars just seem a sound investment, pending you choose the right one.

That seems more interesting. r32's do look lush!

Few car do have rally heritage these days.

Looks are subjective - I think the R8 in your sig is a pig (new one much better though)

They are not making "loads" of them.

I will agree that buying one to store is pointless. If you literally bubbled it you'd probably fetch a good sum in 20-30 years. However, I seriously doubt you'd beat inflation, which basically means you lock £30k in a car for 30 years just to release it again.

If you want to buy it to use it then I think it will hold (as in, limited depreciation) well but it won't appreciate. I'm also willing to get £10 with Stilover that in 5 years my RS will be worth more as a percentage of RRP than a 2016 RS3

Finally, on that matter of inflation, if you actually look at other supposedly valuable Fords from 80s/90s and 205 GTi's and such like they don't make much or anything at all when you factor in inflation, storage costs, runnings costs (still need looked after), etc. I honestly don't know why anyone would bother buying brand new to store for 30 years to try and make a profit.

Came across Bentley Bentayga other day .

Semi hideous tank and seemed slow ( overtook him up hill) in xsara vts , although you wouldn't buy one for traffic light grand prix anyway

then I came across this

Agreed on the rs. Boring to look at I must say. Rather have an a45 amg.

My mates got an r32. All original interior, forged engine and it goes the nuts.

Personally i think the new Focus RS looks terrible, the previous MK2 version was far better with it's aggressive styling

Definitely agree. The previous rs was so much nicer, especially in that dark blue. The new blue that everyone's getting isn't very nice at all.

I'd rather have the a45 amg that my mates got. Ridiculously quick car and isn't a ford

I like the look of the a45 amg. Especially in the grey colour with the big spoiler on the back, looks awesome. Much better than a boring old focus

Not in my opinion, horses for courses innit. I've driven both, the merc obviously is much better equipped and a nicer place to be and faster, handling focus wins hands down. As for the looks i've always liked the shape of new ST/new focus and the RS, mk2 RS too lairy for me. A45 meh too boxy, strange lines, seems a bit messy with its design.

Personally I think the MK1 was by far the best looking Focus RS. Had more Kudos too.

The MKII was styled by both Halfords, and a teenager. Should have been AWD too.

The MKIII. Based on the most ugly Focus to date, so it was always doomed in the looks department. The colour rage is disappointing too. Every time I see a British Gas Van I always think of the Focus RS.

As already said, once rolling it's not as quick as some rivals. Civic Type R, Golf Clubsport etc, though AWD does make it the better everyday steer in all weathers.

Bang for Bucks though it is good value, but if it was my own money, I think I'd buy something else instead. It'll never have the Kudos of the Cosworths, and given the volume they're making, I can't see it holding it's value in a couple years once the second hand market get flooded.
