Default GTE/e-tron

I was looking at the Audi e-tron and VW GTE at weekend and something was bothering me....

Now I am all for cleaner cars etc but these two cost about 12k more than non-hybrid equivalent Audi/VW and a full charge gets about 45 km.

I would save about 600 a year on tax (in Holland) but the way i see it, to make it economically viable I would either need to keep it for 20 years or only drive about 20 km a day as to enable pure electrical use....

is this about right or am i missing something?

First off, if you're going to get any electric vehicle, the BMW i3 is obviously the one to go for (assuming Tesla or i8 are out of budget, which for most they are). More generally though, they're still only really useful for one thing, which is avoiding pollution in their immediately vicinity. Great idea in inner cities, where exhaust fumes have nowhere to escape to, otherwise still a bit of an expensive gimmick.
