Too late if you've bought the RS, but the Leon Cupra R gets the S3/TT spec engine as standard (pegged back to 210bhp) which means it only needs a chip change to hit 260bhp and the handling and brakes will already be sorted. Seriously considering one if I don't get a Scooby, and can import from Europe and make a decent saving.
But nice idea having a 240/250bhp Skoda, will be good fun humiliating other road users. The best value sporting VAG cars never have VW or Audi badges on.

Stuey, go to www.vwvortex.com and ask on there. There is a company which does some nice spoilers etc, think its Airdesign. But the guys on Vortex should be able to help.
Oh, and good choice of car!

50bhp from a chip change ? YAWN
What TurboBoost was saying is the engine is detuned to 210BHP and simply needs the TT ECU map programmed into it (like the TT will have as standard) and its giving 260BHP.
And this is "Yawn" material why ??

Hurrah, another octavia owner joins the fold...
'fraid there is no "chhesh" as the dump valve is an enclosed system not dump to atmosphere, but you can here the turbo spool up. The engine note, sadly, is not up there with a flat4, but can sound fairly throaty with some of the aftermarket exhausts on.

ianc,
thats kinda disappointing about the enclosed system But am I right in assuming that I can fit a dumpt to atmosphere system (realise chip change is required etc) But would it give any more ponies at the smae time, chip change excepted ?

Spoke to AmD tuning gurus. What they said was BAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDD. It comes down to the fact that the ECU isnt config'd to deal with it, as you mentioned. Also the engine itself, as well as turbo isnt designed for this type of thing and apart from having a "bad" car you would get turbo failure within a few months. Basically im looking to get this car looking as good as a scooby and just as quick (with a mods budget of around 4 - 5k )
Pity cause I would have loved the sound . Give the boy racers round our area something to aspire too (They think that their "highly tuned" *ahem* rusty novas can beat Beemers and scoobys. (Yes I know you can get conversions before you start)
Its kinda funny as my girlf works in a petrol station, and you see some sites (both cars and the "occupants") and they will race anybody and anything. Its a laugh on a boring weekday night if nothing else takes you fancy

A guy over on the vortex has had his RS heavily modified and now produces 240bhp by the guys at AmD. Included new turbo, new brakes, new exhaust, engine chip, strut brace and even lower suspension. As yet he has no external mods, but this could change. his pics are on my website. http://www.octaviars.com/Lloyd.htm

Lloyds motor is pretty darn tasty!! I can tell you that as I got a blast in the other week. I do think that with the big turbo the RS feels like a V-Tec, a real kick in the stomach under power, VNICE.

Well guys Ive decided on the RS - a number of reasons including Nickability etc and the high subaru fuel and service costs that an RS is the way to go (with the AMD larger turbo etc). Speed will be good but what im after are some really good bits of bodykit etc (a huge intercooler bay and cool spoiler etc) Ive seen a few motors with em but cant find anything on the web after days of searching.
Anyone know who does Octavia Bodykit.
(A pic is below. Ta to Lee for that)

Er, yes, hard as it seems to believe on this particular engine, in this particular case. Actually 45bhp might be more realistic.

you *could* fit a dump to atmosphere valve, but the ECU will get all stroppy about not seeing the right pressures in the right places, and probably throw you into "limp home" mode. The ECU on this car is very finicky about things like that. I believe someone has done a split DV that throws some pressure to atmosphere (cheesh! ) but some back into the system. Tests so far have found some cars happy with this and others not so happy. Tests continue....
Oh, but it costs about twice as much as a normal DV.
(edited to say that no, you wouldn't see anymore power from changing the DV, but you may see better response and (obviously) better reliability. The standard DV is plastic, most aftermarket DV's are forged metal, so you'll get more control)
