Default Something respectable for £1500

Might be asking for miracle here. Tough time at work and might have to give up my beloved Octavia vrs

Is there any chance of getting anything half respectable for £1500. Lol. Just non boy racer type respectable family like car ?!

I miss auto trader physical magazine :-(

That's quite amusing, because they are actually the same car, just different badges and panels.

Think to watch on anything german that's 10years old plus is brake pipes.

It its already been done and replaced, cool. Otherwise it's a shock expense.

Anything Merc and BMW suffers, mainly the rear brake pipes around the fuel tank area; the severity depends on where the car has lived most of its life. If its on the coast or the Welsh valleys or its parked over grass, then it'll be a hell of alot worse underneath than one garaged in Sussex.

You could get two 306 Peugeots for that money, great buzzing-about cars and the three I've had (still got a 1.9 diesel) just keep going. I think they are the same chassis as the GTI-6 so handling is good too.

Honda Accord would be worth a look at that money. Should bag a 98 onwards example and it'll be reliable! I "smoke around" in a 97 (shared Rover 600 platform) 2.0 Accord Auto. Not a jot of rot, everything works inc air con and it was a £500 car on 62k. Only bought tyres and service items for it. Dad had it for 5 years and I'm in it again after sorting him something else. Now on 88k and feels exactly like it did when we bought it originally.

This - My 306 1.9td cost £350 has 158k and still going strong!

I do 132 miles a day in it and although its tatty looking it does the job! The seats are also mega comfy!

I had a MK4 VW Golf GTI 1.8T 20v I paid £850 for as a winter run about last year, this thing had a full decat Milltek, Remap, big brakes and some other mods, but left standard on the outside/wheels etc(even debadged it). This car was insane with how quick it was and could pass Focus ST's(obviously standard ones) and Audi S3's.
In the 7-8 months I owned it, it never let me down and cost me bugger all apart from petrol, insurance, road tax!!!

Any other thoughts?! Sorry to resurrect but really need something that wont look tatty,is reliable, doesn't look ancient and won't kill me on bills! Don't want a miniature shopping car.....

I'm thinking a sort of Alfa.Which would be my first Alfa. They safe on high miles? No idea who makes their engines.....

Just use the advanced search filter on Auto Trader and Pistonheads to narrow everything down to what you want and then look down the list.
