I like them - wouldn't work in Cornwall as the ranges are too much but they are definitely the future.

Epic 0-40 acceleration too!

IMHO they only suit people who use them in towns so far.
They are still at their infancy at the moment.
Saying this, I am looking forward to test driving an electric car!

the problem with electric cars (or anything electric imo) is that the power available from the battery is not linear

so from full power (100% battery) to half is fine, but the last 50% does deteriorate very very rapidly to the point that the last 25% it is pretty much useless

Last week I was using an electric "gator" to drive over some off road tracks - all day, great but as soon as the power level dropped below 40% it was useless, and we actually has to push it a bit - let it cool right down and it just managed to crawl back to base

I don't know how they present the mileage figures - imo they should only use from Full to 50% - that would give a better view of the usability/range

Sold the s3 privately.

I work 7 miles from home so thought I would give electric a go. So far I'm very very pleased with it.

Ive not had chance to take any photos yet. But the dealer sent one this one. He's quite a character.
It's the silver one at the back

As much as its good that you've given electric cars a chance, the I3 is about the most tragic example on the market at the moment.

Blimey - posh dealer!

I think they're great - couldn't do it here as it's too rural but for a city, ideal!

No it isn't - it's widely regarded as the best.

What dealer did you buy it from mate ? Ive driven loads of them and totally enjoy the experience, but I do think they are mainly a around town car at the moment.

The general public don't buy cars because they are technically good though. Looks themed to be important and from that point of view, the I3 is a big tragic.

I think ,at the moment at least, that its a case of available technolgy dictating the style and function and shape, of the vehicles available to the public.Power plant technology , whether battery , hydrogen fuel cells etc will enable design to follow a more aesthetic approach which, at the moment , isnt available

Yes exactly. We can buy electric hybrids that plug into the mains and all well and good. And where and what supplies the electric for that charge? Prob fossil fuels , which one day , will run out , dead cert. So car manufacturers must look further into other fuel types .

Good choice and certainly something I'd consider. Sat in one and loved it, also like the looks.

Agreed and as I said, all credit to you for buying into an alternative form of technology. There's a time and a place for electric cars, lIf it works for what you need then fair play.

Think you may or may not have missed the point. EVs reduce emissions at the actual point of use, power stations don't tend to be in towns/cities these days.

They look better in real life than the pictures and in the right colour they are ok. Drove great upto 60-70 mphand handling surprisingly good.

I nearly got one as my company car as most days my commute is 46 miles at most but it just didnt work for the longer journeys.

Cost wise it really stacked up given the emissions.

Some bellend nearly drove into me in one of these earlier, took a corner too quickly and their car skidded onto my side of the road.

They are funny looking cars I have to say.
