BMW E46 323i track build - opinions
Afternoon chaps!
I’ve been offered an E46 323i with full dealer history and 130k on the clock for £1k.
Myself and a few friends have been looking for a track car project for a while and were thinking this might be a good starting point.
Does anyone have any experience of these or any reasons not to go for it?
The budget to get it ready for basic track days is £2,500 (including asking price).
I’m thinking, strip it out except front seats, install a cage, coilovers and breaks for now.
We are new to this so any other suggestions would be good? Are we taking on too much/are our expectations too much?

I bought a 2001 325ti for 1150 on 128000 miles. 250 to get it here. 500 or so on overdue servicing, OEM spec brakes, cooling system overhaul. Then hydraulic handbrake, spare wheels, welded diff, coilovers, grippy tyres, camber caster plates, lock mods... up to about 3k. For track it will need uprated brakes which are expensive.
