Default A45 AMG & Bugeye WRX

the A45 AMG is huge compared to the bugeye

and it sounds mental, poping and banging along the road

we havent figured out how to get the mpg on the screen yet lol but I imagine it will be high 20's
that eco button is annoying, as it goes on every time you start it and that means the 'start' 'stop' is activated and that is horrible

The front of my classic Impreza looks even smaller to most cars from the front but I'd still rather drive it than most boring modern vehicles with too much tech.

+1 iam sure its a great car but modern cars have forgotten that your the driver and are trying to do the job for you.

They also give people a false sence of security and add too road rage IMO.

Its kind of a bit like moaning because you want a CRT TV, but must make do with these new skinny,. more advanced LCD/LED jobs.

No they haven't; they are faster, more grippy and often more fun than their ageing predecessors.

I'm loving the current choice of new, fun cars.

Maybe they add to your road rage as they aren't Subarus, but applied to normal people that statement is complete tosh. You and the other blind followers need help frankly!

No road rage here, I am one of those people who lets everyone out of the side street and just stays in my lane rather than ducking and diving through the traffic.

And its you thats got subaru on the brain, I said nothing of subaru, in fact I was thinking about a escort cosworth I was looking at on autotrader thinking how I would like one.

And to the last point, I used to drive class one and I was always amazed how people fight for space on the road with a 44 ton truck. I was also in hospital for a year and house bound for a while longer but when I eventually started to drive I was amazed how much of a hurry people are in. They put their lives in danger for the sake of a few min and IMO are in a false sence of security, although in part its justified.

But its not a attack on the cars, its the people who drive them.

No, you said in one post the car contributes to road rage and then in another that it's not the car, it's the drivers.

It's a clear 180 degree contradiction in your 'argument' and trying to deflect your shortcomings by making stupid wisecracks is making you look an even bigger fool.

Why not stop posting until you can find a way and post with some logic and intelligence instead of just spouting crap?

I was responding to LSherratt comment on tech and then as a separate point I said IMO they give a false sence of security.

The car does contribute to road rage but with it being a inanimate object I hardly think its fair to share the blame with the car.

You are a argumentative man that makes no effort to read posts in there context and instead make rash assumptions and go in guns blazing.

I do how ever agree that my ability to translate my opinion to a short post can sometimes be misleading. When you have trolls like you that clearly have experience of handling themselves on the forums it can make it difficult .

Your ability to translate your opinion to a short post? Your keeping it well hidden if you have it!

Oh and calling someone a troll because they have pointed out where you're wrong is somewhat pathetic too! Well done

I'm still surprised Merc uses fairly cr4p rubber for the A45 - Dunlop Sportmaxx run flats really aren't very good. And our (NOT high performance) camper has Dunlop Sport 01s - the predecessor to the Sportmaxx!

Michelin Pilot Supersports are SO much better.

Other than that, all good.

I think the Dunlop smaxx are good tyres tbh (non run flats), quiet, hold rd well, good lifespan.
Mps3 are better slightly, but are quiet soft and will not last 2 minutes in these high power German cars, but grippy yes.

Plenty of tread in our SuperSports (non RFT) after 9k miles. Not bad with 320bhp.

I think the A45 has run flats.

My A45 came with PS3s on the std 18" wheel option.
Other tyre models seem to appear once you choose other wheel options.

It also came with sealant and a pump for flats, but I'll be calling on MB rescue to deal with tyre problems.

Sounds far better.
No spare either so I'd be onto BMW assist!

In 5.5 years with the 335d and a year with the R32 Golf, both with non RFTs and no spare, I never had a puncture; we had a nail in the M135i tyre but it was easily repaired.

Sorry mate I shouldn't let my self get dragged in, I've added him to my ignore list now.

Have a look at this thread https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...-and-spec.html may give you some idea but my guess would be about 350bhp but it is only a guess.

Will the tyre's on the A45 AMG be identical to every other tyre of the same name or is there a chance it was tweaked and developed specifically for the Merc?

There are only 2 types of the sportmaxx and that's RT and GT.
GT are most commonly used. (High performance tyre)
RT are 'supposed' to be a better tyre. (Motorsports grip and braking)

I think bespoke tyres are reserved strictly for total loony hypercars.

So as I suspected before does this mean the tyre's on the A45 AMG are specific to that car?

Tire manufacturers mark models that have been manufactured according to the specifications of vehicle manufacturers with MO, N0 - N4, a star, the letter “J“ or RO 1. These tires differ slightly from tires without the additional code. MO tires, for example, are produced to Mercedes specifications, while Porsche-approved tires are labelled N0 – N 4. Tires approved by Jaguar are identifiable as such by a “J”. The tires that BMW fits on the cars at its factories are identified by a small star. The designation “R01” can be found on tires for Audi Quattro GmbH. Tires with such identifiers can, however, also be fitted on other vehicles.
