Good cars, just don't crash them, there a fortune on parts.
Front bumper will set you back £500. The headlights are £250 each,
Don't get me started on air bags lol

He does have something to show for it, he has had a car for two years.
All cars depreciate and you have to pay for it, nobody else is going to.
For many new cars leasing can make a great deal of sense.

I think anyone that does that is bonkers, New cars are such a waste of money for private individuals, at the very least wait 6months/ a year and buy one then when it's lost 25% and more, in some cases even as much as 50% after a year or so, find one with sub 20k and jobs a good un, it's still as good as new only someone else / a company has taken the hit, probably only had one service and barely run in.
Imo, the only reasons to have a Brand new car are,
A. You have a company.
B. You're totally minted.
C. You're not very bright.
Does it really matter that much to people to be the first owner and at the end of the day if you can't pay for it cash then you obviously can't afford it.

good deal IMBH, ignore the haters of new cars, nothing like that new smell, However they do have some points,
Ford and Vauxhall drop like stones, 30K Astra VXR is worth 20k soon as it leaves showroom, You could buy a 5k clio but would you really want to, Naa I thought not.
Lease deals are good if you don't mind spunking the cash over 2 or 3 years. I myself have a company allowance, if I was sensible id buy a 10k Astra and pocket the rest but im not. I want a 45k A45 so I PCP it at over 500 a month and hand it back should I want to. I,ll never have 45k ever, no matter how hard I save up.
90% of the country cars are on the Tick, if you live in the cant afford it cash gang youll drive sheds most of your life, and if your on 70k a year Plus for anything worth driving it takes some saving....
Buy it mate and enjoy it, live for today not the future
Out of interest how much is it on PCP with Ford, if u take it over 3 years, once you've paid Half you can hand it back so 18 Months in terminate the finance. At least then at the end of 3 years should u keep it, you can pay the lump sum and its yours. Lease will offer u it also after the 2

I 'think' what he means is that if you want a new or newish car people take finance deals out irespective of how much cash they have in the bank, cars are hardly an investment.

agree theres nothing like buying a good 2nd hand car thrashing it for a year not spending a penny on it ( if your lucky) then selling it for same price or even a small proffit later.

Leasing is a no brainer for most folk. There are deals out there for circa £100pcm!
That's £1200 a year for new, reliable, cheap to run motor.... anything goes wrong. Take it back to the dealer.
I'm surprised at what £350pcm can get you these days.
Sure after a few years your have nothing to show for it bla di bla but for the three years you had it... need i say more.
IMO it is the best way to buy a depreciating asset.

Unless you know a thing or 2 about doing them up, normally any car is a waste of money.
I don't have a statistic but as said above, more often than not any newish car is more often than not financed. yes a waste of Money, but enables the working class the ability to have a nice car.
What classes a car as a Shed is varied, but because it has 500BHP does not warrant quality, ive seen Saxos with 500BHP . but I,ll give you your dues you've probably got a very nice well looked after Subaru.

Even at £100 per month it's still a decent amount of money as far as i'm concerned. The 2 cars we run Rover 214 cost £800 has done about 60k in 3 yrs and cost around £600 in tyres servicing and repairs, ok it's now worth bugger all but it just went through another mot so it's good to go for another year. my car the blob wagon cost £4k 3yrs ago, i've spent about £600 on servicing and tyres and a couple of small upgrades (bushes and camber bolts) and it's still worth £3k of anyones money.
None of the above vehicles has ever let me down and both have driven out to Croatia, 3000 mile round trip plus a few thousand whilst there, who needs new cars, they're just money pits.

Nothing wrong with new, get the car you want. Buy 6 months down the road and have to compromise on what you would have chosen, colour & options etc. Most nearly new have poverty spec options the original purchaser put on.
Ok so I bought new, but for about 1-2k more than a 6 mother was going for I got exactly what I wanted and much more spec than the nearly new.

But even with those figures you've given us, a new Up! (for example) will have cost you £3000 less to fuel, added to the £1400 you spent, equates to £120 per month.
So the £100 lease would actually have saved you money.
And that's not taking into account lower insurance, zero VED and zero breakdown cover.
In my situation, I could lease the Fiesta ST, effectively for FREE, simply by the fuel I'd save compared to the Impreza.

I took a small loan with finishes in thirteen months, @95 pm. I spend £40 per week on fuel so in total £260 a month. I've worked the fiesta to be about the same costs but zero maintenance obviously
