Default Visiting York - any advice?

I know this probably isn't the right section to ask but I thought it might get a better response in here.

Anyway......I will be visiting York and the surrounding area for a few days soon and will be taking the scoob.

I know it sounds a bit paranoid but I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on the best car parks to use in York city centre or ones to avoid.

Any comments on the park & ride sites? Are the car parks secure or is it better to park in the city centre car parks?

Also if anyone has any suggestions for any "must see/do" ideas, I would be keen to here them

Thanks in advance

was there last week

I was in the wifes Zafira so I was not to bothered about the carparks though, we used the ones in the centre, but you need to get there before 10.30 or they are full!!

Plenty to do

Minster
York dungons (scared the kids to death lol)
open top bus tour
open top boats
lightwater valley not to far
Railway museum (free as well)
Yorkshire wheel (at the railway museum, you can see for miles at the top)
The shambles (old historic street, buildings nearly touch at the top)
The Yorvik centre (dodgy smells LOL kids loved it and went there twice!)
The treasury Ghost tour, National Trust house (next to the Minster)
If you have kids take them to the Maize Maze
North yorksire Moors Railway approx 20miles away

Plenty to do

I regulary leave mine in the cars parks of York and have never had any trouble/problems. Usually the one on Tower Street and then walk down the side of the river to town.

Car parks - City of York Council

Have a great time in Yorkshire

The York brewery tour is very interesting. The pub near the centre called The Yorkshire Terrier serves good food and beer which is well worth a visit.

I can highly recommend the Grimston Bar Park & Ride mate!

It's one of the few places, away from home, where I'm happy to park my Scoob.

I've parked my scoob in most of the central (inner city and park and ride) car parks and have never had a problem, I use Foss Bank which is right on the edge of the city walls which, by the way, is a nice walk if you have the time and just want a nice view of the sights!

You'll definitely enjoy, especially now the kids are back at school and the streets are a bit quieter!
