Default SMACS New Year run out - Mon 2nd Jan

I thought we would start the year off as we mean to go on with a run out.

Place : H&H as usual
Date : Jan 2nd (Bank Hols)
Time : 10am (not in the dark!)

It will be a spirited drive with a few coke stops (assuming the pubs are open) along the way. Should be back by lunchtime.

Newbies welcome as always.

(I am also planning a reccie for the annual SMACS to Wales trip, so let me you know you are interested. It will be a FULL day around North/Mid Wales - ideal for when the inlaws are around No date decided yet)

I will come if I am not working, think I may have to work until 11 or 12 but should know for sure soon.
Definately fancy the Wales trip though

Count me in.

Went for a quick blast over Monks rd to Glossop the other night, have to say my brakes seemed a lot better when they warmed up

Got my airbox sorted today from grade A in Hayfield - so another excuse for a blast over there in my lunch.

seeya soon chaps

Im interested weather depending, not much point in me trying to keep up in the CTR if the roads are wet/icy. Would simply be a new years resolution broken (along with the car!).

Cool

Sounds like a good excuse to get out. Have to watch myself on these "spirited" drives though since my last encounter with a camera van.

Mad and rest

I'm still around that day and could be tempted to come out and test the car.

Hare & Hounds, Marple SJ936891 Map Link The pub is on A627 Dooley Lane/Otterspool Road which runs between Marple/Offerton and Bredbury/Romiley. It's opposite the Wyevale Garden Centre and near the River Goyt. From M60, leave at Junction 27 east of Stockport town centre, i.e. if travelling eastbound, the junction immediately after passing under the railway viaduct. At J27 roundabout, follow signs for A626 Marple, leaving via the 4th exit. At signalised junction continue straight and up the hill. At next signals at the top of the hill by a BMW garage, turn left and continue to follow signs for A626 and Marple. Follow A626 towards Marple for around 3 miles. Continue straight down bendy hill at signals (with A627 to Hazel Grove) still following signs for Marple. At next signals, only 300 metres down hill with trees on both sides, turn left to A627 to Bredbury/Romiley. The pub is at the bottom of the hill on the left. From Wilmslow/Bramhall/Poynton direction, take A523 north towards Hazel Grove. At junction with A6 Buxton Road, turn left onto A6 towards Stockport, then next right onto A627 towards Marple. At next signals turn right towards Marple, then at next signals, only 300 metres down hill with trees on both sides, turn left to A627 to Bredbury/Romiley. The pub is at the bottom of the hill on the left.

Default Newbie wants to pop his cherry

Hi everyone...I live in Cheadle Hulme so am well close enough to meet up with you, obviously i don't know any of you, but hope newbies are welcome?

In terms of 'keeping up' i have a 52 Plate WRX STi Prodrive, i've only had it a month and would welcome any tips on the day regarding how to get the most out of it. My initial thoughts are god these things grip (my last car was a Westfield Megablade...)

Anyway I look forward to meeting some of you...anyone going from near Cheadle Hulme (Governors pub?) that I could follow to Marple?

cheers all

Jay

Si,

Nice one mate, obviously I can find my own way to Marple if need be, but's always more fun to go in convoy right?

Wales? Cool!

Have to see about the 2nd closer to the time.

@Jtd106: The best way to find out what these things can do is to follow a few

The route will head over towards Sheffield and back around to Glossop. A few pub stops on the way depending upon time. Going to try some new roads for a change.

Jtd106, get on the track - a much safer environment to get a feel for the car, you will not be dissappointed. Oh, and under no circumstances should you attempt to follow SteelX anywhere - he usually gets lost!

Wales is now looking unlikely due to my recent operation. Spending all day driving will not help it to heal quickly so may have to wait till early next year. I think a day out in Wales is on the cards anyway so watch this space.

Hi guys, I had booked the day off but unfortunately my boss is still pretty ill after suffering some sort of heart attack over xmas, so I will have to work in the morning. However I may still finish early enough to join you so if I can make it I will be there, but don't hang around waiting for me.
If it looks like I may only be a few minutes late I will ring CW42
