*** The 'Blackpool Big One' ***

9th October 2004 - (6-6.30pm)

Here are the details as i have them, with some proposed and confimed times.

1. Heading to the Blackpool follow the M55, to its end. At the end of the motorway, you will come to a round a bout, which from memory, has an odd looking statue. Go left at this round-a-bout, and follow the main route. the following map is useful, as it shows the route in red. (almost as tho multimap knew we would need it)

2. Approx where it says 'Squires gate' is the entrance to Halfords. If you do arrive early, please be considerate for other vehicles. Halfords are expecting us. Their request is that we 'try' to hold back until after trading time ceasing (6pm)

* I am still working on the donation to charity bit, but if we are all happy, then i am going to see if the recipient charity would like to come and collect the donation from us before we depart *.

7.30 ... Departing from Halfords, left turn, past the airport, thru the traffic lights, and on to join the Lights queue, which is where the Police will be expecting us. We will join the lights queue by turning right.

This route will take us past the fun fair, and onward to/ past Blackpool Tower. Eventually, you will come to a round-a-bout

(subject to traffic - judgement on the night) i propose via left, and carry on thru to the conclusion of the lights, and on to/thru a set of traffic lights, and you come to a 'large' straight, where we can 'u turn', and hold, before doing the return leg. (This is the point we grouped last year)

If it has taken too long to get to the round-a-bout, then it will be a u-turn from there...... i can see that being fun...!!!!! a loop of the round-a-bout.

For those interested in a re-group, and i guess, a pit stop before the journey's home, and to say our goodbye's, i propose that we head back to the Halfords, after the return trip. Last year the North to South took about 45 minutes.

Obviously due to traffic, my guesstimate, is that we should allow approx '2 and half' to 3 hours for the round trip.

M6 Charnock Richard Northbound services at 4.45pm, for a 5.15pm depart.
(approx 35 miles to Blackpool)

Charity Information..

Dear All..

Finding a charity has been difficult, try ing to decide whhich one, however, Listening to the radio coming to work this morning, it is Radio City's -

*Give a Child a chance* day.

'Give a Child a chance' is a charity set up for kids, by the radio station. Although Radio City is based in Liverpool, the beneficaries are kids throughout the whole North West. The monies raised by the charity are then distributed to numerous organisations, to benefit the kids they look after.

By 8.15 this morning, the number of donations and pledges had reached over £5000.

It is my proposal, and i hope that you will all agree, that any money raised by ourselves should be donated to this very worthy cause.

Sounds like an excellent cause frank, and a good choice. Like I said @ swettenham, best thing you can do is choose your own charity, ignore anyone who disagrees, and raise as much as you can for it

if you are all thinking of coming up to blackpool then us over at the SXOC have heard about it and intend to join you. i will be there but it is my birthday and i will be heading straight out on the razz.

if anyone wants to stay over then my mate owns a few large hotels and he will put anyone up for a special rate if u wanna stay. the hotel has one of the largest hotel bars in blackpool and it WILL stay open all night!!
