Hi Harvey,
What is it? I ask as Abbylad emailed me and said I need some because I've got a Jap WRX....seems to run OK on Optimax all the same
Cheers, Jon

Nitrous Formula is an octane booster from Australia and is the most effective proprietry fuel additive I have come across.
The pump fuel in the UK is 95 Ron Unleaded, 97 Ron super unleaded and 98.3 Ron for Shell Optimax. In Japan the fuel is 100 Ron and the ECUs are set to run on that higher octane. This means the ECU can run more advance than a UK or European spec vehicle. More advance means more power. So JDM cars need higher octane fuel and will be more prone to det. Whereas UK cars can run on 95 that is a complete no no for JDM cars.
Too much advance results in pre-detonation, also called knock, det or pinking. Knock destroys engines, melts pistons etc.
If your car runs without det on Optimax then you do not need N.F. Personally I do not trust my hearing to detect det and rely on a Knock Link.
Now if your ECU is mapable and you run higher octane fuel then you can advance the ignition timing and this adds power so some people also use N.F. to get more power.
If you need more information let me know. Hope this is clear and helpful.

Thanks Harvey, very helpful.
I'll have a bottle if there is any spare going and keep it in the boot just in case of an emergency (ie no Optimax in the pumps!)
Think I should invest in a knocklink all the same....
