The Organisers of this years Extreme Machines Show have contacted SIDC to see if any of our members would be interested in participating in this event.
It is being held at Elvington Airfield, York on Saturday 15th March.
Anything Goes Promotions Ltd. sponsors of Extreme Machines Show 2003, are looking for cars and drivers with the power and nerve to set a new record for the UK’s fastest accelerating road legal car, over 0-60 mph (0-96kmh). The car must be UK road legal i.e. have a valid MOT and road tax (both of which will be checked prior to the event.), the driver must have a valid UK driving license.
Already signed up is Jeff Seddons and his ex Dubb sports “big dub” twin engined VW, unofficially timed at 3.2 seconds.
The winner will be awarded the prestigious title of “The Extreme Machines Show Fastest Accelerating Car”. Along with the trophy comes an all expenses paid VIP pass to exhibit your winning car, sitting in pride of place at the show. There will be a chance to show what you can do on the track, enabling would-be challengers to see what they will be up against when you defend your title in 2004.
Alternatively, for a nominal fee have your car’s top speed officially timed.
I posed a few questions to the organisers:
It's on the Airfield only, no club stands, no trade stands, and they have a restriction on Spectators, basically you can only go if your entering or if your in a car that's entering. This is for safety reasons, they can only allow a certain amount of spectators.
They've got Men and Motors doing a 30 minute special, BBC Top Gear, and a few performance magazines Kit car, Banzai, Streetmachine etc.
To enter email details of your car with an estimate of your 0-60 mph time along with a daytime contact number to dwayne@extrememachinesshow.com
Please note competitor places are limited and will be allocated strictly on a first come first served basis.
Please not that the SIDC are not organising this, if you are interested please contact Dwayne of Extreme Machines Show directly.

Just been informed by the Organiser's that the deadline to enter your car is up. They are at their limit on 0-60 challengers and spectators.
If you have missed out, there's always next year.
