I want a new car.....
after many discusions with the wife.... even tho she still thinks the legacy is more PRACTICAL (and better looking)? than a normall scooby... dont ask! That i have the go ahead to look and buy so long as i sell the leg first.
I am after some ideas now i.m looking for more power so possible STI but..... dont shout at me..... even thought of Evo but i would like honest for and against ideas on cars, so reasons to buy or not to buy.... could be a game show this!! My brother says a Scoob is a poor mans evo and you can get more power and handling out of it for not a lot spent, so fire away give me your input

Well, my only insight is that I found the Impreza to be a better drive. The Evo (or at least the one I've driven) seemed to lack any real feeling of involvment; it drives you, as opposed to the Impreza where you drive it. Just my opinion of course

Andy wasnt long ago where i was in the same situation as yourself weighing up the differences between the evo and the scooby.
As you can see i went for the scoob but after asking lots of questions and going out for a few drives in cars too.
The Evo is a nice looking car dont get me wrong its no scooby but the design has its own charm the only down side ive seen in the past is when theyve given me the price on parts like the Active Yaw Control £1500 + vat and they tend to go every now and then. The fuel tank has its issues where you need to fill it up every 150miles as the gauge doesnt give an accurate reading this is listed on the Evo IV , V , VI not sure about the VII or VIII. Boot interior from what ive seen there isnt one it looks like theyve spent that much on the car they couldnt afford the covers.
I could talk about the scooby STi i bought but to be honest your best off having a drive of it yourself

Definately get an STi mate, there such great cars & a hell of a bargain for what you get for the money. Alternatively if your wanting something a bit more 'special' how about an escort cosworth?

mate of mine went from scoob to the evo.
short version, evo's more expensive to run, drinks fuel compared to the scoob, the car doesn't give good driving feel/road feed back compared to the scoob
then the final bits
bhp for bhp the scoob is quicker
if you heavily modding then a scoob is the cheaper option
all in all there both good cars, the evo helps the driver out more, but you can push the scoob further.

Evo easier to get the bhp on the cheap, V onwards.... but you really don't have any friends ! !
Fuel tanks are still small on VII onwards I think and you do get the feeling it's driving and you are hanging on to it.
Scoob costs more to get the bhp, and you get friends.... fuel tank is a decent size but still not big enough (joke !) and you feel you are doing some of the work when driving it properly.

P.S. I couldn't justify an extra £4000 for an Evo ! ! !

evo vs scooby ,,,evo wins hands down ,,bit more £££ in fuel but not a lot,as for servicing its the same
you do your scoob every 4k just like you do a evo
iv had both and only missed the noise of the scooby ,thats why i came back to scoob ownership
