Pancreatic vs breast cancer
Any strong thoughts either way on the criticism this campaign has attracted?
I don't find it offensive when taken in its intended context, but then again I have not lost a loved one to breast cancer (my mother died from another cancer).

At the end of the day all cancer is bad. I lost my Dad to bowel cancer, I watched him turn from a relatively healthy 74 year old to a very ill man in only a few months, after getting admitted to the hospice he only lasted a few more days
For sure some cancer is more detectable and some is more treatable but it can all be fatal. The various charities should work together for the greater good.

Haven't seen this before but it doesn't seem to have been very well thought out or it is trying to be too clever. Any adverse public reaction to a charity advert cannot be good.

The survival rates for breast cancer are massive compared to pancreatic cancer so if you're diagnosed with the latter it's more or less a death sentence. I think that's the difference, knowing that you might have a fighting chance as opposed to a 97% chance of not making it.
I've lost two relatives to pancreatic and one to breast so at the end of the day they're still dead, no matter what they were diagnosed with. There's much more awareness of breast cancer, more fundraising etc, but that's probably because it affects so many people.

A heart attack in your sleep when you are old and before you end up damp and confused in some ghastly home is the way to go........
Pancreatic, throat, lung C and brain tumour are best avoided.
IMHO

If I had to choose then I would take breast cancer any day of the week.
Pancreatic cancer, regardless of type, is a brutal brutal disease that is still classed as an unmet medical need by the European Medicines Agency. Ok, some are resectable etc but like the advert say, the figures speak for themselves.
It may sound hard, but let's face it, the ad has worked.....people are talking about the disease and people being educated on how nasty pancreatic cancer is.

When my wife was diagnosed with tripple negative Breat Cancer two years ago, her oncologist said to us, "if you going to get Cancer, Breast is the best one to get as it is the most manageable one and best treated"
no comfort at the time, but now shes well on the way to recovery seems he was right.

Similar to what I posted on another thread; I don't agree with people measuring the severity or personal impact of a condition as a quantative excuse to say one is more preferable to the other.
Given the choice of either, I'd rather treat myself to a bottle of heluim accompanied by a strong polythene bag, and some cable ties; Cancer is a evil disease in any form, I've seen friends and family die from it and I don't want to go through what they did.

It's in the name of saving women, has a very PC element to it.
