Default A nice beer festival please?

I've been volunteered to organize a trip to a beer festival by my two brother in laws. We'd like to go somewhere nice in Germany/Eastern Europe with lots of good beer and meat/sausage

Any suggestions?

Most places in Germany will do some form of festival, I would just head to Cologne purely for the shorter drive/journey. Plus there is also a big redlight area there so you can browse the place for a laugh.

We have an absolutely brilliant one at Nottingham Castle in October.
Never seen so many beers in one place.

And they sell 9" German sausages too

Incidentally, that's the one I'm trying to get my business in to. Excellent beer and fresh roast pig. What else could you need? Also aiming to do the Riverside Festival and Splendour.

End of April/ start of May there is a big 3 week beer fest in Stuttgart called the Frühlingsfest. It is like Oktoberfest but in spring. Then there is obviously Oktoberfest in Munich and the Cannstatter Wasen in Stuttgart at the end of September. All depends when you want to go. There are massive fair grounds with plenty of food and numerous beer tents at all of them.

Indeed Stuttgart is a big fecking drive, it is about 10 hours from London, but if there are a few of you sharing the driving then it isn't to bad. Plus if you make a road trip of it and take a day or so to get there and get back then the scenery is quite nice. Anyway it was just a suggestion of a good beerfest

Flying to Stuttgart is definitely easier and TBH you really do not need a car as the public transport system is great and the Canstatt S-Bahn station is about 5 minute walk from the fest site which is on the river.

You could also try Hamburg. You can actually get an overnight ferry from Harwich straight into Hamburg. You will go down the Elbe river into the middle of Hamburg. Only problem is I have no idea if there is a big beerfest in Hamburg or not

Thanks Wurzel. We wanted to go sooner rather than later so the spring festival in Stuttgart seems like a good possibility.

Have you been to Frühlingsfest?
