.... I had some money returned from a merchant in August this year and the money hasn't reached me as yet.

PayPal takes money from my Credit Card ..... I have only ever bought from E-Bay, never sold, so don't know how I get money .....

I did think they would simply credit the Card they happily debit?

What am I doing wrong?

The money will be in your Paypal account, you now need to send it on to your bank.

Or buy something and it will debit what you have in your paypal account rather than your card

They don't have my Bank details - why not send to my CC?

And, my account doesn't show that money as a credit ........ it shows it was paid in August, but my balance is negative by an item I have just bought (ie, it doesn't show that I am in credit at any point whatsoever).

It might have been paid in at a time you had a lot of outs if you were buying things at the time.

Forgive me, I think I'm senile ...... I have looked through my account again and I think they deducted the credit amount off my next order from a merchant not on EBay!
