Default Great idea for a roast dinner

My lovely wife has come up with a great recipe for those amongst us tha like a Sunday roast.

Prepare the following

King Edward potatoes
Carrots
Parsnips
Onion
Beetroot
Garlic

Chop to 2cm cubes and roast.

Use properly decent olive oil.

It's all cooking up now for us.

2cm cubes?

They'll have vaporised before you get to eat them!

You need big BIG chunks.

Home made chicken tikka, balti potatoes and saag bhaji. Chicken was loitering in its marinade for 3 days in the fridge, the whole family made short work of it.

Parsnips are vile, their juices poison the whole roast.

Is that it?

So simple, but looks impressive with all those fantastic vegetables.

Let us know how it tasted. I may make it next weekend. I'll cook chicken separately so that we don't miss it.

Did you guys eat just that for your roast, or did you eat anything else with it?

I have been told that goose fat is the real deal for the best roast spuds.

I use it for traditional Christmas roasting. Nothing outstanding IMO apart from being a goose's fat- so what. Butter and ghee fats at least have some taste to them. Goose fat is tasteless, and it doesn't make any food any crispier. I'm sure some Jamie Oliver here would put forward a number of astonishing pointers in favour of the goose fat that we're totally ignorant of. They perceive goose fat as something extra-ordinary. The fact is that it's just another unhealthy and insipid fat.

Olive Oil, on the other hand, rocks.

Try microwaveable Chicken Tikka Masala with pilau rice for one from Aldi. Even when you buy two packs for you and your worse half, it's under 4 quid @ £1.89 each. Loads of chicken dices with half-decent sauce to them.

Honestly, Toneh. It's not bad at Aldi and at LIDL. I don't know about Morrison's, as I don't have them around my village. But Aldi and LIDL M'Wave curry meals deffo beat the Tesco and Sainsbury's ones by a mile.

I cook mean currys, I do. But sometimes when you're rushing around, Aldi/LIDL m'wave meals sort you out. I haven't been buying that many of them lately, as the receptionist has been fixing me her delicious soups she makes. Top lady she is.
