Import duty, it has to go through customs. Depending on what value the seller puts on the customs documents that will depend on how much duty you pay. You can put a lower value on but its at your own risk, if it goes missing you only get the value of what you put down on the forms.

When it gets delivered to your door the royal mail or parceforce etc will have a customs invoice which you have to pay, personally i wouldn't buy from somewhere like the USA because if the camera goes wrong its a long way to send it back and expensive, a lot of manufacturer warranties are not international.

Study the manufacturers warranty carefully to find out if its international or if its just within the USA, if its an international one and your still going to make a huge saving after custom fees then its probably worthwhile. If the warranty is just within the USA i'd pass on it as it will be one big headache trying to sort it out if something goes wrong.

VAT at 20% on the total cost and an additional £8 handling charge. Plus the trip to the parcel depot, plus the risk of damage in transit.

I recently purchased a Canon Eos 6D from these guys in the UK. The camera was a US import but they dealt with everything and the camera was shipped to me from the UK so may be worth having a mooch at their shop and seeing if there is anything on they suitable.

They also honour the warrenty etc.
