I call it intimidation. If Unite were to do this whilst there was an ongoing court case there would be grounds for charges of witness intimidation or perverting the course of justice.

There is a place for unions to support workers but intimidating peoples kids and families is out of order. These ******* need to be taken to task.

Most of the union members were unhappy with these actions and thought they were out of order.

I'd dismantle the unions if given a choice! I can't strike in my job. It's a joke tbh. I'm all for a body to be impartial about working conditions but pay threats/pensions etc are utter ***** imo.

This Grangemouth dispute has shown the Union's true colours nicely.

Where do you work?

Tbh it's just Unite being Unite, seems to attract a unique brand of hyper militant fruit loop.

There are many of us that don't have the luxury of taking industrial action should we disagree with some policy. I am personally accountable for my own workload, nobody will pick it up in my absence, I strike for a day I will be bloody lucky if I have a job to come back to!

I suppose when you stand there with a big smile on your face telling working men they are out of a job it just isn't going to go down well.

Did you actually read any of the background to this? The employers were ready to invest £300 million in the site to modernise it and ensure its longevity. To accomodate this the employees needed to adopt new working practice that was embodied by a change in their contracts. Unite saw an opportunity to meddle and play brinksmanship and were handed their ***** on a plate.

Cut the working class hero crap, this situation could have been prevented by the exclusion of the militant unions. The guys working there deserve respect - as do the managers. There is precious little of respect to either side when big unions are involved.

So it's ok for a mob to stand outside someone's private residence and scare their kids? If that was my house I'd give them one warning and then come out swinging

Unhappy

Unite appears to me to be where the ******* that brought the NUM to its knees have ended up

Strangely, the Unite shop steward whose dodgy (allegedly) activities were at the root of the initial dispute seems now to have jumped ship, from both the union and the Labour party. Read into that what you will

The guy that delivered the initial announcement that the Petrochemicals were closing apparently smirked / smiled whilst delivering the news.

Scargill and his cronies were effectively all Thatcher's Christmases in one, there's no way she could have broken the NUM without them

Hardly conclusive evidence. Even Hello Magazine would have thought twice before publishing that
