front fog light on whilst cornering ?
At first I thought it was perhaps just a loose wire or similar but due to the amount off cars I now see guess not ??!!....... so what is it with seemingly loads off newer cars where the fog light / drl comes on whilst indicating / cornering ?
appreciate that the newer audis etc dim the drl whilst the indicators are on but this is the actual front fog light lighting up, seems strange, anyone else noticed this whilst out and about on there travels ?!

Mondeos have a light that comes on when cornering - not a fog light but I assume the idea is the same. Actually having done a fair few night miles in the company Mondy, the extra light is quite handy although not life changing

Is it something to do with led drl been bright / increasing number of cars with xenon headlights which effectively over power the orange flashing indicators. So a work around is to use the fog lights as further indications that turning combined with indicators on mirrors ?

I had a Seat Leon a few years back that had them..... I thought it was a fault as my mate kept pointing it out.
I went to the Seat dealership and he showed me how they work. I felt like a right n0bhead. You can't turn them off either

You can on the Clio.
I used to have a MkI Escort Mexico. It had Cibie Biode headlights, a pair of Cibie Super Oscar driving lights and a pair of Cibie Oscar foglights.
The fogs were crossed over so as to have the outer edge of each beam across the very front of the car. Gave a bright foreground and filled in the corners banks and verges when cornering.
It was used for rallying, mind.

Its not a new thing, my 96 legacy does it! the foglight is actually half a cornering light that comes on when indicating (and under a certain speed i think).
Never found it handy as far as i remember.

The adaptive Xenon headlights I have on my 5 series has additional cornering lights that come on if you are indicating or the steering angle is above a certain amount. They're useful but as it uses a halogen bulb you get a yellowy light in the corners as opposed to the nice white light of the Xenons. Should look to see if an LED kit is available
Aside from that the lights are the best I've ever had in any car as they follow the road in both the horizontal and vertical axis as well as adjusting the throw dependent as to how fast you are going. Superb

We had a citroen DS4 hire car when on holiday this year which had these type of lights fitted, if you corner hard, the fog lamp on the inside of the corner came on to improve visibility when your headlamps were on. It was a pain in the ****, mainly becasue it took my eyes a second or two to adjust to the slightly darker conditions when the cornering light went off. Couldn't work out how to turn it off asd the menus in the car were in French. Start / stop technology - another pointless irritating on that car too.

Most new BMW's have them & many other cars too
Its for when you turn into a corner on an unlit road, it illuminates more of the blind section of the bend other than just the road ahead, which due to the beam pattern leaves the NS corner in darkness,
Seemed odd at first, but once you try it its surprisingly good

My insignia has them along with the afl's I thought the cornering lights were also to help you see if anything like a pedestrian was near, all in the name of safety
