Default Educating Yorkshire

Did anyone else watch it last night?

What in inspriration Musharaf was, to be able to stand infront of the year at the end and make that speech must have taken so much courage.

Great series, and proves that not all youngsters are spoilt little ****s.

Teachers get some negative comments on here, but they seem a great bunch in that school.

Shame it was the last in the series

Yeah I watched it - Felt sorry for him, must be so frustrating to go through life not being able to talk properly. Well played by the teacher who gave him the headphones, life changing for the poor lad.

Yep mushy and the teacher - what a great bloke - were fantastic. Have to admit that I got something in my eye that made it water a bit at the end ...in a very manly way of course. Harrumph

Yep a great end to the series. Musharaf was brilliant to take on the challenge of his English exam's let alone standing in front of the whole year.

The whole series has proved that the teachers are great and really inspirational for the kids. And the kids are by and large just being kids and while there were some little obnoxious wan*ers, the school persisted and by and large got them to improve.

I would like to be fly on the wall of my Son's school to make sure it's the same.

Its an academy and not run like most schools. But it is a very good look at how naive and misguided modern youths are.

Exactly, wonderful how people can behave when there is a camera in front of them about to be shown to the nation

Nah wasn't like that. Filmed over a year so no doubt they forgot the camera's where there. I watched the whole series and only once did I see a person look at the camera (last night episode). Plus there was actually at times some real bad behaviour anyway.

Supporting the Teacher there would have been an NHS Speech Therapist......... Unsung hero's that get kids speaking and look after people with strokes, surgery, cancer, removal of voice boxes......... and the rest.

Well, I just admit outright that I cried.

It was inspirational. I felt proud of him, and I don't even know him, so it's no wonder people in the assembly were in bits.

I suspect, the rather sad reality is, that the majority of schools are like this

People (adults and children) working really hard in often tough circumstances

I know I am always impressed when I go to my children's school by the level of commitment shown by the teachers (and non teaching staff tbh)

Sad, because so many people are wilfully ignorant of this, and simply believe what they are fed in the papers, but I suppose it keeps things nice a simple for them, unchallenging and no real thinking required for their "candy floss" brains

Must admit, I really hoped that Mushy would be able to get through the oral exam, so pleased that he did.

It would take a really fcuked up **** to mark him down on it because a speach impediment though.
