So we have a cellar that is really damp and we need to try it out. We have gone and bought a dehumidifier, and on the advice of a mate have bought one that has a yellow 3 pin plug on the end of it.
We do not have 3 phase electricity, but we were told that there is a transformer that you can buy to convert normal UK mains to the yellow plug type.
Anyone have any ideas what these transformers are called so I can look one up to buy one?
(typically my mate has gone on holiday just when I need to ask the important questions!!)

I think that you need to get advice from a different mate.
As said above, yellow plug signifies 110v. Transformers are readily available....see here....

obviously you need to get one with a high enough rating for your appliance, but its an extra expense you didnt really need. I don't see why a standard 220v unit wouldn't have done.

It just happened to be going cheap on eBay. Yes, it is an extra expense, but we already have a couple of normal dehumidifiers that are struggling to do the job. We needed to go one level up, and ended up with a £500+ unit for less than a £100.
Fingers crossed it turns out to be a good deal
Thanks for the link, a useful list of products
