Girl drug smugglers

I'm not so sure. In their statements they said they were threatened at gunpoint to act as drug mules. Given how harrowing that must have been coupled with their present plight, one would not expect them to be giggling and acting in the manner they are. I know they are young but I have young children and under those circumstances my kids would be distraught. I don't know what to believe!

Young and dumb. They would have been working for someone of course but hard to believe their story, not that they might not have been pressured or bullied of course. Forced at gunpoint...well....

I think they do however when faced with such a situation what can you do. Momentarily the cameras are on you and there's cake in front of you. Dig in whilst you can, the media will slag them off no matter what.

Glad you lot are not judges, when you all turn up at your desk tomorrow and sit in front of a PC remember, people are actually living in the real world. Just because you've never met them and only seen them on TV, it doesnt mean Columbian drug lords dont exist. They very well may be guilty (undecided personally cause I dont really know) but they dont deserve to be judged by us lot

Haha, how true, such a strange place.
People dont actually use logic or common sense when heavily stressed. Its easy to say what you should do in a situation when your brain is not pre-occupied by the reality of whats actually happening to you

Very true, it's easy for us to comment but unless we were in their situation we don't know what we'd do.
Common sense would be to get help though. Even if they made it back they may have ended up in a worse situation.

My 2p...
They saw dollar signs when the drug gang told them how much they'd get - they look like Party girls and that kind of money would keep them on holiday in plush accomodation for the whole summer - and jumped at the chance.

If it were that easy, everybody would be smuggling!
If they were being held at gunpoint, then surely you'd get yourself checked in and through security.
Then you're in theory safe from the gunmen, and you would approach security personnel, telling them what has happened to you.

No, but everyone is entitled to an opinion, there's a difference.
These 2, regardless of whether they were forced etc, were stupid enough to try and smuggle 1.5 million quids worth of drugs into another country. Wouldn't have been hard to go to the airport and then notify security. The drug barons / dealers etc wouldn't have followed them into the airport, which is where they cold have made their getaway.
They obviously tried their luck and got caught, IMO!!!
Chin up buttercups, enjoy prison!!
