Job wanted - Technical Author
#1
Morning all! As the title suggests, I'm after a job. Does anyone know of a company that needs a Technical Author (either
contract or permanent)?
For those that aren't sure what I do, I write things such as: user guides, operating instructions, policies, procedures, and the help that comes with software, websites etc. (Press F1 on most software to find it.) Doesn't matter if it's paper based or online, HTML, etc.
I've checked all the usual agencies & sites (Jobserve etc.) but no luck so far. I've been contracting for a couple of years (Vodafone, Motorola, NTL, Elsevier Science to name some places) but am considering permanent places too.
I live in Worcester but spend lots of time in Reading (girlfriend's place) so M3, M4, M5, and M40 corridors would be easiest.
You can e-mail me at: sweb65@hotmail.com.
Cheers,
Steve

Steve,
I would try QuinetiQ or Dstl in Malvern. I think QuinetiQ still have the Software Engineering Centre in Malvern and I know they use Technical Authors (or at least used to).
Also, with all the spin off companies starting up on the Science Park in Malvern, might be worth your while taking a look to see who is there and what they do.
Then just send them a letter saying you are available.
Cheers
