ASA probes Home Office 'go home' van campaign

Oh dear, I knew this would end in tears. Especially when Clegg revealed that not one single Liberal Democrat cabinet minister had been asked about it before it happened. Even they would have pointed out it was at best a stupid idea

The problem is Cameron knows he is losing support from the grass roots Tory voters (less than 100K party members for the first time since the party was created) so keeps trying this sort of rhetoric to pander to them. It's not working in any sort of way!

Pathetic really, isn't it?

Not the message - have no real problem with that.

Pathetic because complainants worry that the claims may not be true!
Only this country...

Just wait until the Spaniards send one to Gibralter.

We should send one to Ceuta and one to Melilla, sign-written in Spanish

I think you will probably find most windmills are on the land of hard headed farmers

Or "subsidy hunters" as they are otherwise known

Pointless exercise, how many illegal immigrants would be able to read the poster without a translator?

Except he's not very brave. And not much of a leader. And he couldn't win an election against Gordon Brown. Apart from that....

Maybe he's had a proper look at the mess we are in, and, just like Lying Labour last time, is going to opt out....

UKIP anyone?

So it'll be true enough then, looks like the EU want to water down Britishness by making it's inhabitents EU citizens rather than Brits..

The "brave" bit was purely for effect of course. I thought that would be easy to see.

I am actually beginning to feel that Brown was a more capable person and for better reasons too.

Remember Cameron is fighting with one hand tied behind his back with Clugg and the Lib Dems tightening the knots.

True or not, I just can't get worked up about this sort of stuff, there is so much else in life to get worked up about

I was going through passport control the other day and remarked to my wife how great the smaller European style passports are, compared to the old British "book" style ones, that needed a tweed jacket to really pull off

I wonder how many people who campaigned for the UK to keep them would really want them back now

The irony of you levelling a sort of intelligence based criticism like that at hodgy is almost too much to bear

I don't think he is intelligent enough to think up a campaign of his own anyway.

All he thinks is of importance is to ingratiate himself with other world leaders after all!

Yes I would prefer to have them back.

It used to feel like a publication which had a deal of importance behind it as befitted a passport for our country.

It was easy to feel proud to own one.

Indeed it seems that we invented them! See in History of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Passport.

King Henry V of England is credited with having invented what some consider the first true passport, notwithstanding the earlier examples cited, as a means of helping his subjects prove who they were in foreign lands.[4]

Why is it not an issue? What's the point of it? Some, you included it would seem, might be quite happy to be heading towards a federal Europe, others, however, are not!
