Default Dover Calais Ferry - Discounts?

Anyone know any way to get discount ferry tickets? Need to book a trip for the end of the month.

I find it as easy to go to P&O directly - £94 quid I paid for travel the other week.

This came with £20 worth of vouchers to spend on board. 2 Litres of spirits for £26 quid turned out to be a £6 purchase!

Plus they have the most crossing so you don't have to wait long if you rock up late......or you can get an earlier one if you turn up early.

Sounds good. Especially the booze.

DFDS usually cheaper

They sail into both Dunkerque and Calais now.

I saved £30 on my return crossing this summer.

Cheaper maybe.

But how often do they cross? If I missed my ferry by a few mins waiting 40 mins is OK, 2 hours isn't.

My good schoolfriend's father found a good trick.

He was asked by an official on the Isle of Wight ferry to hold one end of the tape while the official went to the other end of the car to measure its length to calculate the season ticket cost on the ferry. He stuck the tape as far as he could back from under the front of the car so that the official got a much shorter measure! Now that was a good saving for a year's ticket!

He was nobody's fool.

Two hours, yes, but in the scheme of things, I've never missed one coming back, and, as we live 250 miles north of Dover, with the A14, M11 and M25 and that Godawful toll bridge on the route, that going down, I'm either on time, or go on an EARLIER ferry.

In any case, the waiting time at the port is 45 minutes.

Sounds like people ran the boatyard next where I grew up. They were in demolition before that - and always grabbed an extra armful of measuring tape to boost their profits
