Default Sun block

Why is this so expensive in the UK? In Boots you can be paying £8 for small bottle, and it's that horrible greasy stuff. I used to use the white zinc based stuff on my overseas jaunts. I suppose it's just not cool enough for the UK? We've all got arms tats to show off?

And why is mosquito repellent so expensive as well? Again about £8 for a tiny bottle in Boots. I'm gonna find it cheaper on ebay.

Stupid!

Aldi Lacura stuff came 1st in a "Which" magazine survey, and a fraction of the highstreet shops prices.

Don't go to boots. Go to those "supersaver" style shops and I'll bet you any money that you'll find all the well known brands of suncream half price. I got some piz buin suncream of £5, slashed from £10 or something.

I'm not generally in favour of government subsidies, but this is an area that would benefit IMO.

I think it might be subsidised in Australia, now sure, but it was cheap and available everywhere. You'd get people going around beaches giving it out. Skin cancer had a big awareness project.

I never 'sun bath' now after working in the middle east and Australia. The sun is not your friend. Mad dogs and Englishmen as they say...

I was in Thailand recently and saw a number of eastern europeans who obviously don't use it either, infact one couple were a nice two tone colour of red front/white back

Pound shop sun cream works just as well.

I think the other shops charge so much as it has a limited shelf life for sales - we don't get THAT much sun...

When we went to OZ in Feb,

The branded stuff, is about the same as UK prices

They all use local stuff, still factor trazilion and it costs about 3 -5 dollars

its a way of life for them, slap on clat, wear a hat, before you go out.

Melonoma, is one of there biggest problems

Depends what type of skin you have. I get told that I should also put that on, but tbh, I don't. I was born and brought up at a land where the sun omitted up to 56 degrees and a little above, so heat here hopefully shouldn't kill me.

Always used 30+ sun block and still went red with excessive exposure.
Now limit time to 10 minutes (tropical climate in Thailand) no block.
Have light tan and no burning.

I had to pay 20 Euros for a small bottle of kids SPF50 in Spain!!

Apart from when surfing, I'm not applying it any more. After 33 days in the camper in Spain and France, I have a slightly freaky mega tan. Never been this brown before!
