One of my old mates was one of the pilots and he took me for a ride on the Plymouth air display. He was one of the two who break off for individual aerobatics and it was quite exciting, especially the head on flypasts. Not as dangerous as you might think since they use the smoke as a sighter. It was the twinkle roll they did as they passed which gets you going. We were in the Gnats which had that incredibly fast max rate of roll.

He let me do a bit of formation flying as well which was a bit of a thrill. I loved formation flying anyway and it felt like a bit of a real opportunity to do it in a Red Arrow display.

Should be a trip that Hamilton and Coulthard will never forget!
