Default Just done a HPI check

Car on ebay, happy with it and purchase agreed.

Not a huge amount of money involved but HPI'd it anyway, using the reg on the car in the photos.

All appears good, not stolen, written off or subject to outstanding finance.

Then one interesting line appeared

Plate transfers recorded According to our records the vehicle registration number supplied by the buyer is no longer on this vehicle. Contact the seller for more details
He's only had the car a few months. Askmid says it is insured under that reg number. A bit confused.

Have mailed the vendor asking for clarification.

Any advice?

Which car did the plate relate to, the one on the insurance or HPI, or neither?

Ask the seller for the current reg number then HPI it again.

On a separate note, I always thought AskMid searches were supposed to be done on cars you already own.

If it's a cherished transfer I guess it could have been put back on retention?

That's the odd thing, I hpi'd it on the plate in the picture and it came up with the right car, just says it is no longer on that plate, no mention of a replacement plate, or write off, or export.

The car is currently taxed, MOT'd and insured. So how????

On a separate note, they are, but it doesn't stop anyone.

The seller will be from Foreign Shores more than likely.
