£99 fee to renew tenancy agreement!
Don't you just love estate agents!?
I'd like to tell them to bugger off but I am away with work for weeks on end can do without the hassle of being asked to leave with a month or two notice.
I know I could probably investigate this more but don't have time.

Its a pure joke! I got hit with a hefty admin fee the last time I moved. I'm planning on moving again, the house I like is through the same agent and I will be refusing to contribute to them as they are a complete shambles to deal with.

Yes and no it depends on your agent, my rolling contracts are based on 6 months agreements so both tenants and myself are secure, and tbh we ain't had a problem yet, but £99 for signing a bit of paper takes the pìss lets be fair
Can't you try to renegotiate your contract with them, if your happy there that is.

Don't know if it's a Scotland only thing but these fees were stopped and you can claim them back as well. We are waiting to claim back from our agent just as soon as we leave them (don't want to rock the boat while still here!)

You want to see what the jokers want to charge a Landlord to renew...
I got an invoice a couple of years ago for £1200 + Vat, for the 10 minutes work getting a tenant to renew his contract for another 12 months.

I have never charged such a fee on the property I lease directly. And if I found out that the agency running my other property even considered doing such a thing I would pretty soon kick them into touch. Am considering booting them anyway, they do bugger all for their money really.
