Gift Ideas
Hi
A mate of mine (32yr old male) has just had to have 6-8cm's of his chin removed and replaced with some bone from his leg, he's got 3-4month off work recuperating.
I'd like to get him a gift/something to use/learn etc whilst he is off work.
It would be great if he could say something like "I learnt to xxx while i was off work for 3months"...
He can already play guitar, so any other suggestions would be really great.
Thanks
M

The Harmonica? You can get a good one at a very reasonable price, reasonably easy to learn, especially if he knows music.
Ive been learning the last few months and finding it really enjoyable, music is easily obtainable over the net too so no need for extra costs on his behalf. Plus it actually goes well with a guitar if he can play both at the same time
Not sure if it is a bad thing though that its a mouth piece, not sure how much he will be able to use it with the op being on his chin....
Good luck and very thoughtful of you

Ukulele? Should be easy to get to grips with being a guitar player. Cheap -ish. Portable fun too.
I presume you'd want to get him something that doesn't involve abusing the face and legs after the op?

Nice post.
If he is keen on the guitar there are plenty of things to get to add to his enjoyment and learning.
Much depends on your budget. Anything from a set of Elixir strings to another type of guitar for him to learn, say an acoustic or bass if he just has a 6-string electric. So from say £25 to £350+
Have a look at www.stringsdirect.co.uk to get some ideas.
Hope your mate recovers well.

Hi
Thanks for the replies.
I mentioned the guitar as a kind of deterrent - to stop replies such as "learn the guitar"
However I do quite like the Ukulele idea....
I was kind of thinking of things like Rubiks Cube, Vendic Math, Basic Magic...you know, something a little different that he could say "yeah I learnt to juggle* blah blah"
Anyway, i've got a bit of time as he is in not back home for the next 3 weeks..
Thanks
