Default Cost of a weekend at Le Mans?

I'm considering a trip to Le Mans, but when I invite people I know their first question would be how much it would cost.

To anyone who's done the drive-camping thing, could you shed some light? Inclusive of the entry ticket, campsite, ferry and petrol for one car, plus anything else? Excluding beer/food.

Cheers

I went last year. IIRC the ferry (car and two passengers, no cabin) was nearly £300. The ticket price was approx 70 euro. We went as a big group and each paid £100 for camping, food and booze. You also have to pay for fuel to ferry and from ferry to Le Mans.

When in there you can spend as much or as little as you want. The Lanson Champagne tent you must go to at least once - it was 55 euro a bottle last year.

Cracking weekend and a must do for racing fans!

General entry is 70 euros ish.
Camping ranges from about 50 euros to almost 100.

I like to stay at the inner musee camp site as its inside the track and a lot more secure. But its at the upper limit almost 100 euro.

I tend to use a full tank easily getting from the tunnel in Calais down to the track. So 2 tanks, maybe 3 depending. Plus fuel in the UK.

If you have never been before I would advise you read some of the various guides.

Watch your security - esp after the race - within 20 mins of the race ending they let the local pikies onto the camp sites.... if its not already packed up you will find your stuff going on the back of a transit van!!

Stop in Alencon and buy your beer and some food for the first day.
The local supermarkets sell out quite quickly.

A lot of people eat in Arnarge but if you want something nice at night time head south about 10 min drive to Guécélard as there are 2 nice places there. About 15 euro for a good meal per person. Gets busy after 7pm but not too bad.

HTH!!!

Also, there will be lots of speed traps once you get closer to the track esp on the Friday!! Dont get caught as you can get some serious fines!

Speed detectors are a no-no too.

I prefer to take the train rather than the ferry - as there is less chance of a delay and you can stay with your car.
