Default How did we like our first view of Scunthorpe?

On "Skint" on Channel 4 9pm tonight?

Awful, eh? And this town, of only 70,000 souls has THREE sink estates like that, four if you count the smaller one at the end of Ashby.

Not sure what the answer is. The guy HAD a job, but was made redundant...... now he hasn't worked for a year.

The kids were just out of control.

Hundreds of thousands of pounds have been poured into those estates and they are still as bad and getting worse.

Welcome to the 21st century.

They're like some kind of human sub species, I can't believe people live like that.

The young tear away on the motor bike showed some skills though, three up pulling a wheelie I'd still vaporise him though, no good for the future of this country no matter how much money the government through at him.

I wonder are there no jobs in Scunthorpe? or just none that these lot are prepared to do. It is depressing as I have worked on estates like these and they are not just confined to up north. These people know that if they do not bother trying at life, the state will look after them.

Not your end Andy, I don't want to be too specific. And remember I was brought up on one of those estates and lived for two years after getting married RIGHT WHERE that lot was filmed.

I lived on the New Westcliffe part (over the main road from what you guys saw on the program) for the first 6 years of my life and visited the precinct most days with my mum. The precinct wasn't as bad back then, about 25 years ago, with just the usual drunks around 'the wall'. Thing is, in 25 years said drunks have had kids that in turn have kids too, which have spread the same workahy lack of morals.

And when the leftie do-gooders try make excuses up (lack of investment etc) for them, it's not exactly gonna make the scruffy bastids see sense or change their ways is it.

As an example, a local Labour councillor tweeted just after the program that she would be sitting on 'the wall' signing autographs today as she's proud of Scunthorpe's welfare state

Apparently buying nicked goods from the back of someone's car or scrapping on behalf of a mate in the pub is 'showing community spirit' and 'looking after each other'. Couldn't make it up.

" I was p1ssed up in the pub one night and my mate rang her trying to sort out a one night stand and we have been together ever since with her 5 kids from 5 dads."

This is happening in every conurbation in the UK.

But to quote the phrase "But Britain is not broke!".

Bring on the left wing, dufflecoat wearing, tree hugger to say that it's not their fault!

no it isn't - London is booming, booming so much you can literally smell the wealth and prosperity

as is most of the South East tbh

I was talking to the owner of a film production company over the weekend (in a bar in Hoxton)

He said he could not find anyone to employ – and the jobs he was offering where starting at 25k

Some very good friends have just sold a house in Queens Park and moved to Cambridge (pretty simple 4 bed house) -- £1.6 Million

Will the northeast get any of this wealth – not a fvcking chance

The reason he can't find anyone to employ at 25K is that to even consider living in London you need a fecking lot more than that!!

Watched a Sarah Beeny house prog last night - sh1tty, dirty, run down flats (ie just the downstairs of a normal house!) was £385k!!

Gonna get a mortgage for that at £25k pa - not a ******* chance!

The housing market in this country is fcucked for most people now.

That young lad. God I could feel,my anger getting worse while watching him. The way he treated his mother. Needs a slap.

£15 ********? No thanks. God knows what you'd catch off her.

Overall, they all seemed to blame the system than blaming themselves. No one has knocked on their door offering them a job, so why should I do anything?

Scum.

which to be fair is why I moved my familly to leafy Cambridge (village just outside) some 7 years ago

and I love getting in the train at Kings Cross to come home (although will be back, at the "home of football" tonight)

I still have property in central London, and loved growing up in London - best city on earth imo, but for the young really, or the very very rich

and net value of properties in just 10 London boroughs – Westminster, Kensington & Chelsea, Wandsworth, Barnet, Camden, Richmond, Ealing, Bromley, Hammersmith & Fulham and Lambeth – now outstrips the worth of all the properties in Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland combined.

and in a few years you will be able to add the whole of the North East too

kushti

Having been offered "the treatment" for £10 just off West Street one night, I can confirm the full works is available from these classy bitches for knockdown prices.

Also, if you and your mate want two's up, it's 50% off the total price.

:
the lowering of costs is just one benefit of the recession, and is according to Lord Young a good time to start a business

"The prime minister's adviser on enterprise has told the cabinet that the economic downturn is an excellent time for new businesses to boost profits and grow because labour is cheap"

The fat bloke in very tight pants had some good quotes though:

"I just spunk in a hanky and the flies do the rest"

"we just feed and breed"

I was shocked watching this program

what a bunch of scroungers and utter idiots was on that show last night

the little idiot that was missing school and was mouthing off to his mother needs to get back handed for being a little c***

I cant believe how these scumbags are getting away with not working and just sitting around all day and getting government hand outs
while the rest of us are working our backsides off to feed our family's

also the woman who was shop lifting what a total skag who would pay a tenner to get a bj from that mutant
no sympathy for that slag either maybe her life would of turned out ok if she wasn't spazticated and didnt get hooked on drugs
I reckon when when police find a drug haul of heroin they should shake dried out battery acid into the heroin batch
and then pretend they didnt find any thing so the heroin goes out to the junkies so when they take it they fry from the inside !

Do the police ever think of posing as a TV crew ?

They seem pretty happy talking about stealing motorbikes , shoplifting , drug dealing/using , prostitution , handling/buying stolen goods , criminal damage , removing tags etc etc. I mean the camera watched wee lads hide a stolen scooter while the cops ran around aimlessly looking !

"skint" wasnt the best title either , they seemed far from it. "Dirty theiving scrounging lazy *****" is closer .
