Tough on crime?
Vicky Pryce and Chris Huhne both realeased from prison according to the BBC after serving a QUARTER of their jail sentences!!!!
What the f**k is the point of giving someone 8 months and releasing them after just 2?
Is this the norm or just because they are 'important people'?

Crazy isnt it, - maybe this should be combined with the "I though this was going to get quietly dropped thread" ?
And then we can see more wonderful quotes from Martin2005.

It's the norm ....
HDC or Home Detention Curfew ('tagging') is available for crimes of a non-sexual nature (there are some other criteria) and if you've been sentenced to < 4 yrs.
Then depending on your sentence length you can have a maximum of 135 days on HDC. As they were only sentenced to 8 months, the max they can do on HDC is 2 months.....therefore, 8 months = 4 months and then minus 2 months off that for HDC - this gives you your 8 weeks imprisonment.

Yep its farcical isn't it. It's basically a way to free up prison space, which is the underlying problem. Now then, which party is committed to doubling prison spaces I wonder....?

I assume that you didn't like the fact that I pointed out you were completely wrong on this (like many others on here)?

It's utterly farcical especially as it is the norm as pointed out by SinghSuperStud..... it's just not that much of a deterrent to a lot of people.... but as we all know crime is falling it must be working

Then again I do have the ability to admit I'm wrong unlike some and I don't go around gloating after making a wrong call !
You clearly have not got anything better to do with your life, so why don't you let the adult talk and I will just ignore you !

Ah if you recall I did admit I was wrong on this after the verdict, but I did make a judgement call before the sentence was delivered.

If your 'adult talk' hadn't included having a go at me then I would fukin ignore your inane ramblings

They are getting tough on crime, Theresa May says "life" means life for those who murder a Police officer. Sure she's forgotten about doctors, nurses, firemen, soldiers and Joe Public, but we gotta start somewhere. Funnily enough she doesn't mention life means life for those who muder politicians..........
