Unhappy Horrific Boeing 747 crash.

Horrible to see such a crash on camera I see some sources are the taliban are taking responsibility for the crash, but to me it looks like it has just climbed too steeply and stalled?

My friend works for the company as a flight dispatcher, if his shifts had worked out differently he'd have been onboard.

He knew all the people on board, and is obviously very upset at the moment.

I red that the machines being carried were not secured properly and shifted when climbing causing the steep take off and stall.

Strange the guy in the vehicle doing the filming doesn't have any vocal reaction to the crash. I think I would be going mental!

It looks like a tragic accident with no Taliban involvement, but they're propaganda machine is a well oiled machine. I'm not sure if the camera angle makes it worse but it does look like it is climbing far too steeply

The guy's non-verbal reaction is strange.... how can you not even say anything and keep your cool when witnessing something like that so close?

It just shows when things do go wrong, then the situation deteriorates very quickly indeed.

Definately a major stall out at next to nothing altitude - always going to end very badly - it can only be incorrect loading TBH, as any pilot wouldn't even attempt a climb out like that in loaded 747 even if the airplane would let you... must have had some weight in it!

Would be interesting to hear Leslie's take on this one.....

It does look like cargo shifting, first bank to the left gets corrected, cargo shifts again causing over correction, pilot gets it level but lack of airspeed brings it down..

Shocking incident. It almost seems surreal as the plane plummets to the ground.

There is on mine. Not much but you can hear creaks and rattles from the car he's in.

No chuffing great explosion etc, silenced during the main event, perhaps cos he was reacting with expletives?

Certainly an awful sight, sort of thing to give you bad dreams.

If the cargo had shifted significantly to the rear then the centre of gravity having also moved backwards might well cause the elevator to becone ineffective such that it was not possible to prevent the nose high attitude that we see before the aircraft enters a full stall and rapid descent.

The aircraft may well have yawed one way or the other during the entry to and after the full stall. The yawing by that stage would be uncontrollable.

Having reached such a high nose attitude and being fully stalled also, the aircraft could not have been recovered to a normal flight attitude in the time or height available. It was an awful situation and is the sort of thing that makes pilots wake up screaming in the night in case it should happen to them!

An excessive rearward centre of gravity causes an aircraft to lose its longitudinal stability which is why the elevator control would become ineffective in such an extreme case as this one.

Either you need to turn the volume up or watch a different video source because there is sound. It's not only on here that it's been questioned about his lack of reaction. Not that it really matters in the big scheme of things, a tragic event regardless if he reacts or not.

Les, what sort of height would be needed to correct a situation like this?

If indeed, it could be corrected...

As it was at no great height maybe the cargo was not balanced i.e. too much weight to the rear. I was on a 737 Glasgow to Dublin because the baggage hold is at the front the first 10 rows of seats were cordoned off as 99 percent of the passengers take a small case on board. It takes a brave pilot to push the stick forward as you take off if it feels tail heavy.

That really is shocking. Dutch TV analysis suggested that steep ascents and descents are the norm on war zones to reduce the time exposed to the danger of being shot down. Shifting cargo during the steep climb does seem plausible as the cause.

Its gob-smacking the way it falls out of the sky towards the camera. Not surprised the driver of the camera car chucked it in reverse and gave it some welly!
