Default Lewis's BBC column

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/21793873

I don't feel he is doing himself any favours here.
I know it's cliché, but he really does strike me as the sort of person who should just let his driving do the talking.
On the plus side - at least it looks like he wrote it himself.

It is very poor, but more than Lewis I blame Andrew Benson who is the actual writer on the the piece. He is an extremely poor journalist at the best of times, but the editing on that piece is just abysmal.

Lewis like most F1 drivers is not a writer and he needs to have something to say before 'writing' a column... let's hope it improves with time. I don't think it helps that Andrew Benson does not like him particularly either.

A bit of a fail all round really!

Well if a professional journalist has ghosted or had input into that column, all I can say is that I'm in the wrong business.

Like Webber's column over the last two years Lewis writes it and Andrew Benson edits it for publication. Not good!

Webber's column is generally pretty good IMO.
I am getting the impression that maybe Lewis is surrounding himself with the wrong people. Perhaps McLaren were right to keep the guy on a short lead.
I mean talking about making a Lewis museum for his fans? Might have been better for his Dad to let that one out of the bag.
Makes me cringe just writing this.
Maybe Andrew Benson is having a laugh here, but that is not a good business plan for his future, so I am not sure if this theory is a runner. Maybe Andrew has the wrong people around him.

I have thought this for a long time. Or the article might be 100% true and he just has these friends and relationships with people from different celebrity genres and he still has his feet on the ground.

However, it would not surprise me in the slightest if Merc doesn't come good we see him signing massive deals with Indycar or some US series within a few years. Although looking at FP1 the Merc looks in good shape and McLaren have dropped the ball yet again. If not for their road cars and mass wealth, McLaren could easily face a Williams style wilderness decade.

Bashing?

More like a concern for him really. It would be a shame for his talent to be overshadowed by his persona.

How is that even a concern? The guy drove out of his skin last season second best to only Alonso IMO and then only by a whisker. What more would you like him to do?

Let's see how he goes this season. Maybe any 'issues' weren't him, but his (old) team who have won only 3 driver's trophies and 1 constructor's in the last 20 years .... for such a 'winning' team that is pretty poor!

Anyway time will tell. I hope he does well!

Yeah, he is a gifted driver.
I just want to see his yellow helmet doing the business in a Silver Arrow - the rest I can do without.

I accept that he is a very capable racing driver and that is all that I am concerned about.I will just continue to watch him driving.

Cannot stand the guy to be honest, comes across in interviews as being arrogant, whereas certain drivers like Vettel come across as being very nice guys!

Wow....arrogant? Have you actually taken a pause and listened to he guy, or read his comments in full without prejudice? He openly admits his faults, but is also as humble as they come. No matter how clinical people like Vettel, Schumacher et al are, and it can be boring with them winning all the time, we should still respect and appreciate their talent.

If people don't like the guy, just ignore discussions about him. Leave the boy alone....

He does seem to polarise opinion doesn't he?

I can see why people think he can be a bit stupid sometimes even if the media are partly responsible for this, but I would never call him arrogant.

Anyway as someone else said let's just enjoy his driving ... this year is going to be a tough one in some ways, but that can sometimes bring out the best in people.

Anyway given the massive **** up McLaren seem to have made over winter I doubt he is in in two minds over whether he made the right move going to Merc

I woulden't class him as arrogant TBH, he has put his foot in his mouth a few times I won't argue against that, but we have all done that.

Cool

Did anyone else notice on his post race interview that he is going bald but grows his hair longer and combs it forward, then cuts it straight to emulate the shaved stye he had before? He has done t badly though.

Personally, I've always thought he was a bit of a tosser. Talented, no doubt, but still.....

I don't think so - he comes across to me more as someone who wants to be liked.
Anyway - the move to Mercedes is beginning to look an inspired one indeed!

I thought the OP meant PS Lewis at first.

Have you been introduced so that you can call him by his christian name?
