Default Blocked coronary

Been diagnosed with a 50% blockage in the LAD as a result of minor chest pain and CA scan.
Having to make a decision on stent or medication/ monitor.
Trouble is the stenosis is in a critical position and the cardio called it " A widow maker"
Apparently Stents are not without issues ongoing medication and once in cannot be removed without radical surgery.
As ps I am not a fat **** , never smoked , never eat junk food , cholesterol 4.11 , moderate to light drinker, diabetic type 2 but glucose level controlled at 6.0 , family history bad , overly competitive personality. Oh yeah I'm 68

Do you think you should have smoked and binged every weekend? Thinking of the wasters that don't care about their health and live forever.

I would go stent, seen them used weekly with very good effect. Very straight forward into the groin or wrist. At least that way they clear the blockage. Being diabetic would increase you chances of cardiac problems aswell as family history.

Good luck with whatever choices you make

When i use to work day shifts, i use to transfer IRCU (intervential radiology care unit) patients from the royal free in nw london to barnet hospital. Ive seen loads of patients in the same condition if not worse then you mate. Best advice i can give you is speak to your cardiologist about any concerns you or your family may have. Stints seem to be the best route tho mate

Good luck fella

I had chest pain when one of my bypass arteries blocked up. The Chinese doctor who is a bit of a star as a heart surgeon managed to clear the clot with the plastic tube that they push up the artery to inject the dye for observation. He did install a stent in another artery which he thought needed it.

I also lead a pretty healthy life.

The cardiologist will guide you if you ask for their recommendation. Go with their advice.

If they are unclear on the best option, I would edge towards stenting. I'm a big fan of stenting, my patients have done brilliantly with stents.
