Default Is this a scam?

I keep getting e-mails purporting to come from people I know, correct headers etc, but all they contain is something like this:

Should I/they be worried?

Yes and no. it's more viral marketing ... probably of a less than completely honest advert.

Sounds like one of your friends' computers has been infected with malware that has opened the address book and the payload is sending emails as one or more of thoese addresses to the other addresses.

I wouldn't worry about it, just delete them!

If a friend, then you should notify them as they may be completely unaware that this is happening.

Can't tell if this is a troll post or not...

There's no virtal marketing about this, its 100% scammy scam scam, its this generations door to door salesmen or pyramid scheme, ignore and/or delete. Scraping CNBC and "inserting" your own article to present an air of legitimacy... cmon, really.

If the emails are linking you and your friend, then either you or your friend has had their contacts compromised or you just happen to both be on the same dodgy pr0n website email list that has been sold to spammers

Either way, there's not much you can do about it now above the usual virus / malware scans.

I'm missing something here

What's Redruth got to do with it???

Unless there is something in the link which I wouldn't open anyway, just in case.

The Redruth thing is a red herring, it uses Geo IP to try and make it look like a local ad.
