Any Taxi Drivers on here based in the North East ?

My mate is a taxi driver, I'm jealous of the fact he can go out and work any hours that he wants, BUT he does have to pick up the lowest form of life.. and the majority of them stink.
Some of the taxi stories he comes out with are hilarious
But that's just in my town lol

First off, to make any kind of living wage, you would need to work very long hours. When I did it, our companies idea of a single shift was 6am until 6pm, or 6pm until the fares stopped coming.
A double was 24 hours straight, with half an hour for your lunch and half an hour for your tea.
Unless you are on wages, your take depended entirely on the fares you got, so could vary. I once did a six hour shift for a total take home of £3.70.
You get to see a lot of the underside of the community.....you would be hard pressed to believe some of my stories and they were RELATIVELY harmless. A mate nearly lost an eye when two scumbags kicked his window into his face to stop him going after them when they did a runner, and another was hospitalised when two blokes dragged him from his cab and gave him a kicking because he refused to stop for them, (he was on another call). They chased him to some lights...NO-ONE helped him.
I'd think very hard.
once you have the local knowledge, it's dead easy work, but I'd NOT want to do it now........
