Recent letter to Grant Schapps
I've removed email addresses that are not in the public interest.
Dear Grant,
Please advise me as to your position on the recent Gay Marriage vote.
I have forwarded an email from a friend (One of many loyal Conservative voters) who have finally had enough. I have recently contacted you about the extremely worrying situation regarding impending de restrictions on border controls and have been no less concerned reading about issues in Germany with the same issues.
It pains me to say so but unless there is immediate and public resistance to both the EU diktats on de-restricted access to the UK and (in my personal opinion, a fop to a minority for marriage) I shall have no option than to potentially waste my vote in upcoming elections.
If you could reply at your earliest convenience to let me know how you voted and what you intend to do with regard impending immigration I would be most appreciative.
My father in law has already written directly to David Cameron to inform him that there are two less votes for the conservatives in cuffley.
Grant - it is time for politicians to stop fearing the vocal minority and listen to the increasingly dismayed majority.
Kindest regards
Mark

Dear Peter Lilley,
I have tried hard to support the Tory party over the last few years as the
alternatives (Labour and the Liberals) are clearly much worse,
However the recent support by David Cameron for gay rights, in an obvious
attempt to gain votes and stay in power with complete disregard for
traditional Tory grass roots supporters such as myself is the last straw.
I shall now look for alternatives such as UKIP, if I can vote for them, or
simply abstain,
I realise this will probably mean Labour will be successful but since I now
see no difference between Labour policy and David Cameron who cares?
When David returns to supporting issues such as restricting uncontrolled
immigration, supporting conventional families composed of a man and a woman,
fighting labour over imprudent economical policy, a sensible defence policy
, ditching the current insane energy policy based on windmills, limiting the
regal powers of the European Union and numerous other issues which should be
second nature to a Conservative then I shall be happy to vote Conservative.
Best wishes.
Ken

Good Afternoon Kenneth,
Would you like to join me for a Fish n' Chips n' Question Time Evening?
The event is on Friday 8th February at All Saints Church Hall, Station Road,
Harpenden, AL5 4UU at 7.45 for 8pm. Tickets are 15 which includes a tasty
Fish n' Chips meal, plus fresh fruit and a soft drink or a glass of wine. I
should mention that this is a fundraiser which helps to support many local
campaigns here in Hitchin and Harpenden.
After we've eaten, I'll throw open the floor to you for any questions. I
hope it will be a very informal occasion with no planned speeches, at least
not from me. So, whether you have some burning issues you want to get off
your chest, or simply want to find out exactly what MPs do with their time,
you are very welcome to come along and ask me! This is a new venture and
is in addition to my very popular House Meetings and Trips to the Houses of
Parliament which help me keep in touch with the concerns of the people I
have the privilege to represent in Parliament.
Please get in touch with Geraldine in my constituency office on 01582 834344
or at tory-herts@btconnect.com. You can pay with a debit/credit card,
cheque or cash to the office at H & HCA, Riverside House, Place Farm,
Wheathampstead, Herts AL4 8SB using the attached flier.
I hope you can join me Kenneth for what should be an interesting evening.
Kind Regards,
Peter Lilley

Scooby Regular
.....can we please bring back slavery, stop women voting or working if they are married, get kids back up chimneys and into labour houses, go back to thinking the world is flat, kill left handed people as they are clearly satans spawn, kill those who disobey/dishonour their parents. burn men and women who we suspect as witches and ban rock and roll whilst you're at it as that's satans work as well!
I have to agree to disagree with your views, Jods, but each to their own, as per the other thread!

Quick response from MP.
Dear Mark,
Thanks for your email. I appreciate that this is a subject that motivates strong feelings.
The Government has always made it clear that it considers marriage one of the most important institutions we have. It binds us together, it brings stability, and it makes us stronger. I don’t really think the State should be stopping people from marrying unless there are good reasons, and for me being gay is not one of them.
What is interesting is that in the 21st century the majority (perhaps two thirds or three quarters of the population) agree with equal marriage. Support is strongly age related with younger people far more likely to be in favour. I do accept that those against gay marriage are much more vocal, hence there have been some large petitions against.
David Cameron always made it clear that he favoured equal marriage as far back as 2006.This is a relatively small piece of legislation (in terms of Parliamentary time) which needn’t distract from any of the other much larger priorities. Smaller items are not always carried in manifestos and since this will have zero impact on most people – unless they’re planning to marry a same sex partner – I think Parliament can decide what to do and we can get on with the big issues of the day.
My bottom line is that I wouldn’t vote for anything that will have an impact on religious people or institutions. The Attorney General has studied the Bill and says that the Quadruple lock prevents it having any impact on those who do not want to be a part of gay marriage from a religious point of view. For me this is no different from equality legislation which requires men and women to be treated in the same way, yet has not led to churches, mosques or synagogues needing to employ female priests, etc, despite the legislation being on the books for several decades.
I do appreciate hearing your views and even though we may not entirely agree, I have taken your comments on board.
Best wishes,
Grant.

Is he cracking a joke. "My bottom line..."
He voted in support of Bumder marriage.
So what next? Can I marry my car? A horse?
I've no issue if people in a loving same sex civil partnership are afforded the same protection on things like capital gains / inheritance tax when one of them Karks it from bum disease or whatnot. But why does it have to be Marriage that gets dumbed down?
My main concern is how the polico's bent over backwards / or forwards depending on your persuasion to accommodate this minority agenda. It'll be polygamy next. Then sharia law. Then who knows what.
