Yep, I am not going to pretend I have never exceeded the speed limit on the public highways. However I have taken 2 of my scoobies to Raf portreath and legally driven them to the limit.

Not my scooby, but i took my tb'ed 309 on there, good laugh especially the v10 hilux

Yeah i've maxxed out the scooby, but i chickened out as it got silly fast so now i drive rather sedate.

Fastest i've been was a stripped out 800hp skyline, that was something not of this world fast.

Took my Scoob past the 160 max, past straight down, past '0' and got it back to '10'. Not good for it though so only a few dozen times

Hit 8k revs in 5th in our sales directors Ferrari 360, still don't know how quick that is

Was a passenger in HawkScoobSlayer's 996 RUF Twin Turbo running silly power and saw 170+.

DazzaSTi's Ariel Atom might not have been the fastest top speed, but on track I can't see much keeping up with it. It made 300bhp Scoobs look like diesel Astra's.

Oh, and passengered in Ian Thomason's 360 Challenge Stradalé on Elvington. Braking hard from 150+ hurt and nearly made me sick.

Dave Carter's 450bhp 520 lb/ft Cosworth engined STi on slicks on Cadwell almost had me puking as well.

150 (indicated) in my R32 Golf in France.
Not maxxed the 335d but apparently easily hits it 155 limiter and will do a bit more if tken off.

Know what you mean about the atom, went to a Jonathan Palmer day and bloody hell I didn't think that sort of abuse of your insides was possible

I managed to wring over 130mph from my modded XR4x4 on several occasions

My old Legacy Turbo was easily capable of more than that. But I always bottled it at around 120 because the front end tended to get very light

In cars, I think that's the fastest I've managed. Bikes are a different matter entirely

Saab 9-3 Aero, remapped, saw 155 on the speedo, so would have been doing a good 140/145.

Had my old Cav GSI off the clock, never bothered in the Impreza.

Have seen over a ton indicated on the speedo in 4th gear though.

Had to do it once so where better to hit the limiter in 6th than on a quiet (apart from 5 other scoobs) derestricted section of autobahn in Germany on my way to Trier to watch the WRC.

The SatNav registered the Max. Speed as 151mph. Steady as a rock.

70mph in the UK, 55 in USA etc.

Mine, 5 speed, in 4th was 105 mph just about to bounce off the limiter.

160mph indicated in my 335i touring. The front end went worryingy light upon lift off, which I didn't expect so didn't dare to brake! :-o

I had more fun out of getting Vmax out of bangers: Add old age, wear and tear, and the question of "will it blow up" makes it all the more daring ......

N12 Nissan Sunny 1.3LX: 120mph (slightly down hill )
MK2 Polo 1.3GL : Don't know...speedo only went up to 100 and it was way past that
LDV Pilot 1.9: 95mph (that was scary)
Peugeot 206 1.9d van 90mph

I had 150 indicated on the digital clock in my Rx-8 on the autobahn. Felt pretty stable!

Got to love the autobahns!
