silly question thread
ok how about a thread for silly, absurd, outwith normal thinking, niggling questions?
on any topic you want - now i know some SN regulars will really struggle to refrain from sarcasm, ridicule, put downs ect - but please lets try keep on topic without belittleing others. if a post is not really relevant, or answering/posting a question - the try your very very hardest not to post. by all means type out the offensive response, but instead of hitting the "post reply" button - hit delete
this idea has been stolen from another site, and has been conducted in the manner in which intended - so it is possible
ill kick off with - tyre wear and rubber lost where does it go? - with all the traffic on the roads, why are there no build ups of tyre deposits on road sides? even if so small particles blown away by weather, some will not.
will the constituants of tyres - never impact the surrounding enviroment? and what lever of traffic would people think it could have any impact?
i realise its more than one question. Ive got another cracking question lined up lol

You'll see tyre all over the road in africa, we certainly did
The rest of it is just about to split off the rim
(causing no end of deaths)

Car tyres are designed to wear slowly - i.e hard compound - so they dont throw chunks off - even under quite high load.
The microscopic dust that comes off under normal use is, IMHO, blown away and washed away.

I think some of the rubber from tyres seeps into the tarmac surface - one of the reasons why the supposedly wonderful porous asphalt (that isn't supposed to hold surface water) doesn't work as well after a couple of years.
