At least he done the job I suppose.....! People do like to take advantage of elderly people who are far too trusting, shame! Though £2 to clear snow paying with a £10 note I'm guessing, setting themselves up to fail really.

Although it may be unwise to think you'll receive change, or to even converse with the lad in question, calling the guy in question a retard is quite stupid. The guy I assume is elderly, may have some form of dementia or simply a trusting chap given the way neighbours used to be.

Furthermore, castigating the guy's actions further to him bothering to inform other elderly people in the area (who could suffer an even worse fate) of the lad says a lot about your attitude to others IMHO.

+1 - Society should be able to survive on trust - just because it cannot does not mean those that try are wrong. They are right and its the way that generations are being brought up on "self" and "don't care" that is the problem
