Again Argos are doing well and they are a LTD company with £millions in the bank and a good balance sheet.

I think we will get to a point where the weak companies will all go and the rest that are left will start to grow. Look at DSG. They have done pretty well the last 3 months since Comet went. They just need to build on that.

I would imagine book stores would struggle against the likes of amazon and increasing sales of kindle and e readers.

BHS

I've heard that in Cardiff the employees haven't had contracts renewed and they haven't renewed the lease on the building.

What I've heard anyway.

You would think but in the case of WHS they have done really well in the last 5 years and over that period their divs have gone up, stock is up 75%...

They might start to struggle in the next 5 years but I doubt they will go anywhere near bust in that time.

They've started putting coffee shops inside the larger WHS and are trying to become more of a place to spend time, rather than just purely selling books/stationary, and along with embracing e-readers I think they are on the right track (not that I have any expertise whatsoever )

Body Shop
Thorntons - used to be seen as a luxury chocolate, now it tastes vile and places like Hotel Chocolat have taken their place
Waterstones - not sure about these, nice shop and much better than WHS but never seem to see anyone actually buying much in there

What do you mean "gone"? Have they stopped trading??

Used to go into my local Staples quite a lot. Huge store but usually more staff than customers and Currys next door beat them price wise on most of their computer stuff.

They've just booked a big week long conference at a nearby "resort" so for the owners (who I know), I hope not!

Debenhams - tired, no USPs, lost in the Dark Ages.

I can see some big furniture retailers sinking too.

The high street will struggle in the next few years
Parking costs is driving people to the free retail park areas
Amazon and on line suppliers will finish off the small shops
